Il tracciato di Kegums ospita il GP della Lettonia, sesto appuntamento del mondiale motocross. In MX2, Andrea autore di un ottima prima manche, non riesce a riconfermarsi nella seconda. In MXGP, con un quarto ed un nono posto Forato sfiora la ‘top 5’, classificandosi sesto.

A due settimane di distanza dall’ultimo GP, team e piloti del FIM Motocross World Championship si dirigono nel nord dell’Europa per il GP della Lettonia, sul difficile e impegnativo tracciato di Kegums, caratterizzato da un fondo sabbioso ma compatto.
Sul tracciato lettone, i portacolori dell’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2) e Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP) cercano il ‘riscatto’ dopo la sfortunata prova in Trentino, che gli ha visti entrambi penalizzati da un ritiro in gara 2.
Nelle due sessioni della MX2 del sabato mattina, Andrea non riesce a trovare il ‘feeling’ giusto con il tracciato; chiude 15° nelle prove libere e 25° nelle cronometrate. Nella classe regina, Alberto è molto più a suo agio sulla dura sabbia lettone e dopo un 5° tempo nelle libere, centra il 10° posto nelle cronometrate.
La gara di qualifica della MX2 vede una discreta partenza di Andrea il quale, dalla 25a posizione in griglia di partenza, si assesta subito come 12°. Per tutta la gara il siciliano amministra la posizione e all’arrivo, taglia il traguardo 11°. Nella classe regina, Alberto è 17° al termine del primo giro ma rapidamente risale attraverso il gruppo e nel secondo passaggio, è già 12°. La progressione del veneto lo porta sino in 11a piazza ma a pochi giri dal termine, cede tre posizioni e si classifica 14°.
La prima manche della MX2 domenica mattina, prende il via sotto la pioggia. Andrea ha un buon avvio e dopo le prime caotiche fasi della corsa, transita 9°. Nei primi giri il pilota GasGas arretra di qualche posizione ma, trovato il suo ritmo, risale attraverso il gruppo approfittando anche degli errori nei quali incappano alcuni avversari che lo precedono. Raggiunta la 6a piazza, Andrea amministra la sua corsa e sul traguardo, si conferma 6°. La seconda manche di Andrea, è fortemente influenzata da una partenza non perfetta. Il siciliano si ritrova 17° al termine del primo giro e tra pioggia e tracciato molto segnato, non riesce a mettere in atto una cospicua rimonta. Raggiunta la 14a piazza, la tiene sino a quattro giri dal termine, per poi arretrare e concludere 17°. A fine giornata, Adamo si classifica 10°; in classifica di campionato, rimane stabile occupando l’8° posto.
Gara 1 della classe MXGP, vede la GasGas #303 guidata da Alberto sbucare nel gruppo di testa dopo la prima curva. Al termine del primo giro il veneto è 6° e trascorsi sette giri, Forato sopravanza il pilota che lo precede facendo il suo ingresso nella ‘top 5’. Nell’ultimo giro, l’errore di un avversario gli consegna un ottimo 4° posto. In gara 2, Forato parte leggermente più arretrato e si ritrova 12° al termine della prima tornata. Rimontate alcune posizioni nel corso dei giri iniziale, si stabilizza in 9a posizione e la tiene sino al traguardo. A fine giornata, viene accreditato del 6° posto di giornata ed in campionato, rimane stabile in 9a posizione.
L’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery tornerà in pista già il prossimo fine settimana per il secondo round del Campionato Italiano MX Prestige sul tracciato di Ponte a Egola (PI). In toscana saranno sicuramente presenti Federico Tuani #3 e Luca Ruffini #669; in attesa di conferma la presenza di Andrea Adamo #80 e Alberto Forato #303.
Andrea Adamo #80: “Di questo weekend, ne vale solo la prima manche, conclusa con un 6° posto e nonostante un sasso che mi ha rotto gli occhiali sin dai primi giri. Non è stato facile guidare senza occhiali in quelle condizioni perciò sono molto contento. Pensiamo perciò ai soli aspetti positivi e ci prepariamo per la gara di casa.”
Alberto Forato #303: “Il fine settimana è andato bene, soprattutto nella giornata di domenica, con un ottimo 4° posto in gara 1. Nella seconda manche ero già molto stanco ed ho guidato senza esagerare, chiudendo 9°. A fine giornata, mi sono ritrovato 6° assoluto. Continuiamo a lavorare sodo in vista delle prossime gare.”

Kegums circuit hosted the GP of Latvia, sixth appointment of the Motocross World Championship. In the MX2 Andrea made an excellent Race 1 but he was not able to repeat the result in Race 2. In the MXGP, with a P4 and a P9, Forato finished shy of one place from the “top 5”, ending in 6th position.
After two weeks since the last GP, teams and riders of the FIM Motocross World Championship moved to Northern Europe for the GP of Latvia, at the difficult and challenging circuit of Kegums, characterized by a sandy but compact surface.
At the Latvian track the SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery riders Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2) and Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP) hoped for a redemption after the unlucky round of Trentino, where they both were penalized by a retire in Race 2.
In both sessions of the MX2 on Saturday morning Andrea was not able to find the right “feeling” with the track; he finished 15th in Free Practice and 25th in Timed Practice. In the top class Alberto was a lot more comfortable on the hard Latvian sand as he finished in 5th place in Free Practice and in 10th place in Timed Practice.
Andrea made a discrete start in the Qualifying Race of the MX2, as he moved up from the 25th position at the gate to the 12th straight away. For the whole race the Sicilian rider managed the pace and the situation and he crossed the finish line in P11. In the top class Alberto was 17th after lap 1, but he quickly moved up through the field and during lap 2 he was in P12. His progression made him move to the 11th place but when there were a few laps to go he gave up three positions and he finished 14th.
MX2 Race 1, on Sunday morning, started under a rainfall. Andrea made a good start and after the chaotic phases of lap 1 he was 9th. During the first laps the GasGas rider moved back a few places, but when he found his pace he started gaining positions, also taking advantage of mistakes made by the riders ahead of him. Once he moved to P6 Andrea managed the situation and confirmed his placement to the end. In Race 2 Andrea was penalized by a poor start. The Sicilian was 17th after lap 1, and he could not recover from that, also due to the rain and the rutted surface. He was able to move to P14, which he kept until there were 4 laps to go, but then he lost positions again and he finished in 17th place. At the end of the day Adamo ranked P10 Overall, while he kept the position in the General Classification as he is still in 8th place.
The GasGas #303 of Alberto showed up in the top riders group after turn 1 of the MXGP Race 1. At the end of lap 1 the rider from Veneto was 6th, and after 7 laps Forato made a move to the rider ahead of him and entered in the “top 5”. During the last lap, the rider that was 4th made a mistake, so Alberto could move up one more place. In Race 2 Forato started a bit further behind compared to the previous start, as he was 12th. After a few places recovered during the initial laps, he then stabilized in P9 until the checkered flag. At the end of the day he ranked in 6th position Overall, while he kept the 9th place in the General Classification
SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery will be back on track next weekend already, for the 2nd round of the Italian MX Prestige Championship, which will be hosted at Ponte a Egola circuit, in Tuscany. Federico Tuani #3 and Luca Ruffini #669 will be there too, while it is not confirmed yet if Andrea Adamo #80 and Alberto Forato #303 will be there too.
Andrea Adamo #80: “I take home Race 1 only from this weekend, as I finished in P6 despite a rock that broke my goggles since the very first laps. It was not easy to ride in these conditions, that’s why I’m pleased. We will now focus only on positive aspects and we will work for our Home Race”.
Alberto Forato #303: “The weekend went well, especially on Sunday, as I finished 4th in Race 1. In Race 2 I was already very tired and I rode without taking any risks, finishing in P9. At the end of the day I found myself 6th Overall. Let’s keep working hard while focusing on the next rounds”.
