Nel GP di Spagna sul tracciato di intu Xanadù – Arroyomolinos, Renaux centra la ‘top 5’ della MX2 nonostante due manche sofferte. Jacobi (MXGP) e Fredriksen (EMX250) guadagnano punti importanti ai fini delle rispettive classifiche generali.
Con il GP di Spagna, sul tracciato madrileno di intu Xanadù – Arroymolinos, il FIM Motocross World Championship continua in maniera incessante il suo cammino verso il finale di stagione.
In questo dodicesimo round stagionale, da contorno è previsto anche l’ottavo round del Campionato EMX250 perciò il Team SM Action Yamaha, si presenta al completo con i suoi tre piloti: Maxime Renaux #959 (MX2), Henry Jacoby #29 (MXGP) e Hakon Fredriksen #427 (EMX250).
Al sabato i protagonisti in pista sono i giovani dei campionati minori. Dopo tre GP disputati sulla sabbia, il tracciato spagnolo presenta il classico fondo duro in terra rossa che non incontra subito il favore del norvegese Fredriksen. Dopo un 11° tempo nelle libere, Hakon completa la sessione di prove cronometrate con un 13° tempo.
Nella prima manche, Hakon si posiziona in 13a posizione sul finire del primo giro ma nei giri seguenti riesce rapidamente a fare il suo ingresso nella ‘top 10’. Nelle restanti tornate di gara, Fredriksen non commette errori e grazie ad alcuni sorpassi portati a termine, completa la gara con un 8° posto.
Nella seconda manche, la partenza e il rendimento in gara del norvegese è quasi una fotocopia della precedente frazione, ma il risultato finale è leggermente migliore, un 7° posto. A fine giornata, Hakon si classifica 7° riuscendo a conservare la sua 4a posizione in classifica di campionato.
Maxime Renaux #959
Nella classe MX2, il francese Renaux è subito veloce nelle libere con un 3° tempo e si riconferma all’interno della ‘top 3’ anche nelle prove cronometrate, ripetendo lo stesso tempo. In gara 1, dopo poche curve dal via Maxime guadagna subito la 5a posizione e la tiene sino al 6° giro. Retrocesso di una posizione, completa la corsa con un 6° posto. In gara 2, la prestazione di Maxime è simile a quella della precedente frazione. Quinto sin dalla prima curva, il francese amministra la corsa e si difende dagli attacchi degli avversari. A fine giornata si posiziona 5° in classifica assoluta ed in quella di campionato, conferma il suo 4° posto assoluto rimanendo ad una manciata di punti di distacco dal terzo classificato.
Nella classe MXGP, il tedesco Jacobi termina la sessione di prove libere con un 13° tempo e nelle cronometrate, migliora leggermente la sua prestazione chiudendo 12°. In avvio di gara 1, Henry si ritrova dietro ma rapidamente recupera alcune posizioni portandosi in 15a piazza. Nelle parte centrale della corsa però, il tedesco arretra in classifica, ma sul finale di gara riconquista la posizione iniziale. Nella seconda frazione, l’avvio di gara di Jacobi è decisamente migliore e subito 11°, si posiziona 10° già nel secondo giro. Per tutta la durata della manche, Henry tiene la posizione e solo nell’ultimo giro, subisce un sorpasso e taglia il traguardo 11°. In classifica di giornata risulta 13° ed in quella di campionato, arretra di una posizione e ora è 16°.
Il tredicesimo round del FIM Motocross World Championship, si terrà nel fine settimana del 17 e 18 ottobre in Belgio sul tracciato di Lommel e sarà il primo di un altro ‘trittico’ di gare che prevede un GP infrasettimanale. Per l’occasione, scenderanno in pista anche i ragazzi del Campionato EMX250, per il loro penultimo round stagionale.
Maxime Renaux #959: “Oggi non è andata come volevo: la velocità c’era visto il 3° tempo nelle cronometrate ma poi in entrambe le manche ho fatto molta fatica a trovare il giusto ‘feeling’ con la pista e le giuste linee. Sono partito dietro in tutte e due le gare ed ho faticato nel rimontare. A fine giornata ho chiuso 5° assoluto, spero di rifarmi nei prossimi GP di Lommel.”

Renaux entered the “top 5” at intu Xanadù – Arroyomolinos circuit for the GP of Spain despite two hard races in MX2. Jacobi (MXGP) and Fredriksen (EMX250) gained important points for their championships.
FIM Motocross World Championship continued its way towards the end of the season at intu Xanadù – Arroyomolinos circuit, where the GP of Spain took place.
With the 12th round of the season, the track also hosted the 8th round of the EMX250 Championship, so Team SM Action Yamaha deployed all of its riders: Maxime Renaux #959 (MX2), Henry Jacobi #29 (MXGP) and Hakon Fredriksen #427 (EMX250).
On Saturday there were only young riders for the minor classes on track. After three GPs on sandy circuits, the Spanish track had a classic hard soil surface, which was not the best one for the Norwegian Fredriksen. After the 11th fastest lap time in Free Practice, Hakon finished Timed Practice in 13th position. In Race 1 he was 13th after lap 1 but he quickly made his way through the field to enter the “top 10”. During the last moments of the race, Fredriksen did not make any mistakes and thanks to a few overtakes he finished in 8th place. In Race 2 the start and the performance were quite the same as Race 1 for the Norwegian. The final result was a bit better though, as he finished 7th. At the end of the day Hakon ranked 7th Overall so he then kept the 4th place in the General Classification of the Championship.
In the MX2, the French Renaux was fast straight away in Free Practice, when he finished with the 3rd time, as well as in Timed Practice when he made the same lap time. In Race 1, after a few corners from the start, Maxime gained the 5th position and he kept it until lap 6. He then moved back in 6th and he kept that place until the checkered flag. In Race 2 the performance of Maxime was similar to the previous one. He was 5th since turn 1 and he managed the whole race and defended well from his opponent’s attacks. At the end of the day he ranked 5th Overall and he confirmed the 4th place in the General Classification, where he is still just a few points far back from the 3rd.
In the MXGP class, the German Jacobi finished Free Practice in 13th place and he improved a little in Timed Practice as he finished 12th. At the start of Race 1 Henry had a poor start but he quickly gained back a few places, racing in 15th position. In the central part of the race though, the German moved back, but he managed to recover and he finished the race in the same position of the start. In Race 2 the start was much better for Jacobi as he moved from 11th to 10th during lap 2. For the whole race Henry kept that place but during the last lap he was overtaken so he finished 11th. He ranked 13th Overall and he moved back one place in the General Classification as he is now 16th.
The 13th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship will be hosted on the 17th and the 18th of October at Lommel circuit, in Belgium, and that will be once again the first of three-in-a-row races with a midweek one. On that occasion, the riders of the EMX250 Championship will be racing too for the second to last round of the season.
Maxime Renaux #959: “Today it didn’t go as I expected: I had the speed, considering the 3rd fastest lap time in Timed Practice, but then I struggled in both races to find the right feeling and the right lines on the track. I started from behind in both races and I struggled to recover. At the end of the day I finished 5th Overall, and I hope I will make up for it in the next rounds at Lommel”.
