Nel GP di Svezia, sullo storico tracciato di Uddevalla, Forato torna nella ‘top 10’ della MXGP classificandosi nono di giornata. In MX2 invece, un infortunio nelle prime fasi di gara 1 costringe Adamo al ritiro. Nella EMX250, Tuani e Ruffini faticano sul duro fondo svedese e solo Federico centra la ‘zona punti’ in gara 2.

Per il ‘rush’ finale di questa intensa stagione, il FIM Motocross World Championship resta nel nord Europa e a distanza di una settimana dalla prova belga di Lommel, team e piloti ritornano su uno dei tracciati storici europei, quello di Uddevalla, in Svezia.
Di contorno alle classi del mondiale, scendono in pista anche i piloti del Campionato EMX250. L’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery si presenta così all’evento con tutti e quattro i suoi ragazzi: Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2), Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP), Federico Tuani #3 (EMX250) e Luca Ruffini #669 (EMX250).
La giornata di sabato inizia con le prove libere della EMX250: Tuani centra il 17° tempo, Ruffini chiude 32°. Nelle seguenti cronometrate, Federico resta nella ‘top 20’ facendo segnare il 18° tempo; Luca migliora leggermente chiudendo 28°. Nel primo pomeriggio, i piloti si allineano per il via di gara 1. La manche di Tuani è pesantemente condizionata dapprima da una brutta partenza, che lo costringe a rimontare dalla 35a posizione, e poi da una rovinosa caduta a seguito di un contatto con un avversario che lo costringe al ritiro quando era 21°. Anche per Ruffini, la manche si svolge tutta al di fuori della ‘top 20’. Dopo un avvio in 26a piazza, il lombardo arriva ad agguantare il 21° posto a quattro giri dal termine ma la sua progressione verso la zona punti non prosegue e sul traguardo transita 22°. Gara 2, che si tiene domenica mattina, vede un ottimo spunto in partenza di Tuani che al termine del primo giro transita 6°. Lungo l’arco delle sedici tornate però, Federico non riesce a tenere il ritmo dei primi e lentamente scivola fuori dalla ‘top 10’, concludendo 16°.
Anche Ruffini centra una discreta partenza e si posiziona subito all’interno della ‘top 20’ al termine del primo passaggio ma, come il suo compagno di team, giro dopo giro arretra sino a ritrovarsi 31° sotto la bandiera a scacchi. A fine giornata, i ragazzi dell’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery si ritrovano rispettivamente 19° e 34° in classifica di giornata. In quella di campionato, con i cinque punti conquistati in gara 2, Federico recupera una posizione e si porta in 21a posizione. Il doppio zero non comporta miglioramenti per Luca.
Nella classe MX2, Andrea non trova subito un buon ‘feeling’ con il tracciato svedese ed infatti chiude le prove libere con il 12° tempo e le prove cronometrate con il 14° tempo. Nella manche di qualifica però, il siciliano azzecca una discreta partenza e 9° al termine del primo passaggio, completa la corsa con un 8° posto.
Domenica, la prima manche di Adamo inizia nel migliore dei modi, con un’eccellente partenza che per un soffio non gli consegna l’holeshot. Dopo quattro giri condotti in 5a piazza però, Andrea incappa in un infortunio al ginocchio sinistro senza nemmeno cadere e dolorante, abbandona il tracciato. Non prendendo parte a gara 2, il siciliano rimedia un doppio zero ed in classifica generale perde il 6° posto, scivolando in 7a piazza.
In MXGP, Alberto si dimostra subito veloce e nelle prove libere sfiora la ‘top 5’ chiudendo 6°. Nelle seguenti cronometrate, il veneto si classifica 11°. Nella manche di qualifica, Forato rimonta alcune posizioni e dalla 16a piazza iniziale, completa la corsa 12°. Nella prima frazione della domenica, Alberto si ritrova 16° al termine del giro iniziale e subito comincia la sua rimonta che lo porta alle soglie della ‘top 10’. Completata la corsa, la GasGas #303 taglia il traguardo in 11a posizione. Nella seconda frazione, la partenza di Forato è decisamente migliore. Nono al termine del primo giro, il veneto trova il suo ritmo e guida tutta la gara in 10a piazza, tenendo la posizione sino alla bandiera a scacchi. Grazie al punteggio acquisito, Alberto centra la ‘top 10’ di giornata con il 9° posto; in classifica generale, guadagna una posizione e si piazza 14°.
Senza weekend di sosta, il FIM Motocross World Championship si sposta dalla Svezia alla confinante Finlandia dove sul tracciato di Hyvinkaa si terrà il GP di Finla
ndia, penultimo round stagionale, valevole anche come nono e penultimo round del Campionato EMX250.
Andrea Adamo #80: “Purtroppo in gara 1, dopo un’ottima partenza, mi sono ‘girato’ il ginocchio quando ero in 5a posizione e mi sono dovuto ritirare per il dolore. Domani farò tutti gli accertamenti del caso e vedremo… Spero sia tutto ok.”
Alberto Forato #303: “E’ tato un buon weekend dove ho trovato subito un buon feeling con la moto e con la pista. Questa settimana di pausa prima della gara mi è servita per ricaricare le batterie e finalmente sto tornando a guidare come so fare. Una piccola pecca sono state le partenze ma ho comunque fatto due buone manche e sono molto contento.”
Federico Tuani #3: “Oggi non è andata male, ma sicuramente potevo fare molto meglio. Avevo una buona velocità ma tra errori e cadute ho raccolto poco. In gara 1 sono partito molto male e dopo una bela rimonta sono caduto e non sono riuscito a finire la manche. In gara 2 sono partito bene e sono stato 9° per gran parte della gara, poi una scivolata mi ha retrocesso in 16a piazza. Peccato perché poteva essere un buon weekend ma è andata così. Ci vediamo in Finlandia.”
Luca Ruffini #669: “E’ stata una gara che mi ha lasciato un po’ di amaro in bocca. Sabato nelle qualifiche sono riuscito a fare un discreto tempo; ero abbastanza rigido nella guida e alla fine ho chiuso 28°. Nella prima manche sono scattato bene ma dopo la seconda curva mi sono ritrovato 28°, poi sono riuscito a recuperare qualche posizione e a finire 22°. Nella seconda manche ho fatto una buona partenza, intorno alla 15a posizione ma già nel primo giro ho perso qualche posizione. Verso metà manche avevo le braccia molto dure e una scivolata negli ultimi quattro giri non mi ha aiutato. Ho concluso 32°. Certamente non è il risultato che avrei voluto ma non si molla e si guarda avanti per la Finlandia.”

The GP of Sweden, which took place at the historical circuit of Uddevalla, saw Forato going back to the “top 10” of the MXGP, as he finished 9th Overall. In the Mx2 Adamo was forced to retire during the first laps of Race 1 due to an injury. In the EMX250 both Tuani and Ruffini struggled with the hard surface of the track, and only Federico managed to enter the points-area in Race 2.
For the final rush of this intense season, FIM Motocross World Championship stayed in Northern Europe after the round at Lommel, Belgium, and teams and riders went back to one of the historical European circuits, Uddevalla, in Sweden.
The riders of the EMX250 Championship were there too, so SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery deployed all of its four riders: Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2), Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP), Federico Tuani #3 (EMX250) and Luca Ruffini #669 (EMX250).
Saturday started with EMX250 Free Practice: Tuani made the 17th fastest lap time, while Ruffini finished 32nd. In the following Timed Practice Federico stayed in the “top 20” as he was 18th, while Luca slightly improved his performance and he finished 28th. In the first hours of the afternoon the riders aligned for Race 1. Tuani’s race was heavily conditioned by first a bad start that forced him to recover from P35, then by a bad crash that followed a contact with another rider, which caused his retirement when he was 21st. Another rider that stayed out of the “top 20” was Ruffini, who started in P26, moved up to P21 and then finished the race in 22nd position. In Race 2, which took place on Sunday, Tuani made a good start and after lap 1 he was 6th. During the 16-laps-long race, though, Federico did not manage to stay with the top riders and he slipped out of the “top 10” little by little, finishing the race in P16. Ruffini had a discrete start too, in the “top 20” after lap 1, but then, as well as his teammate, he moved back to P31 at the checkered flag. At the end of the day the riders of SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery finished 19th and 34th respectively Overall. In the General Classification, thanks to the 5 points gained in Race 2, Federico moved up one place and he is now 21st. The double zero did not make any difference to Luca’s standing.
In the MX2 Andrea did not find a good feeling straight away with the Swedish track, in fact he ended Free Practice in P12 and Timed Practice in P14. In the Qualifying Race, though, the Sicilian made a good start and, after that he was 9th during lap 1, he finished the race in 8th place. On Sunday, Adamo’s Race 1 started in the best possible way, as he was so close to make the “holeshot”. After 4 laps, when he was in P5, Andrea suffered an injury to his left knee, even though he did not crash, and he was forced to retire. As he did not take part in Race 2, the Sicilian made a double zero that moved him back to the 7th place in the General Classification.
In MXGP Alberto showed straight away good speed, and in Free Practice he was shy of a place to the “top 5”, ending in P6. In the following Timed Practice the rider from Veneto ranked 11th. In Qualifying Race Forato moved up straight away a few positions and, from P16 where he was, he finished in P12. In Race 1, on Sunday, Alberto was 16th at the end of lap 1, and he quickly started his recovery which made him move just out of the “top 10”. Once the race was finished, the GasGas #303 crossed the line in P11. In Race 2 Forato’s start was a lot better. He was in 9th place after lap 1, he quickly found his pace and he stayed the whole race in P10, which was his final placement. Thanks to points that he gained, Alberto entered in the “top 10” of the day, ending the weekend in P9 Overall. In the General Classification he moved up one place and he is now 14th.
With no weekends of stop, FIM Motocross World Championship will now move from Sweden to the bordering Finland, where, at Hyvinkaa circuit, the GP of Finland will take place for the second-to-last round of the season, which will also be the 9th and second-to-last round of the EMX250 Championship.
Andrea Adamo #80: “Unfortunately in Race 1, after an excellent start, I twisted my knee when I was in P5, and I had to retire due to the pain. Tomorrow I will do all the checks and we will see…I hope I’m still ok”.
Alberto Forato #303: “It was a good weekend where I immediately found a good feeling with the bike and with the track. This week’s break before the race helped me to recharge my batteries and I’m finally going back to riding as I know how to do. A small flaw was the starts but I still did two good heats and I’m very happy. ”
Federico Tuani #3: “Today was not bad, but I certainly could have done much better. I had a good speed but between errors and crashes I collected little. In race 1 I got a very bad start and after a good comeback I crashed and couldn’t finish the heat. In race 2 I got a good start and was 9th for most of the race, then a crash relegated me to 16th place. Too bad because it could have been a good weekend but that’s how it went. See you in Finland. ”
Luca Ruffini #669: “It was a race that left a little bitter taste in my mouth. On Saturday in qualifying I managed to set a decent time; I was quite rigid in driving and in the end I finished 28°. In the first heat I started well but after the second corner I found myself 28th, then I managed to recover some positions and finish 22nd. In the second heat I made a good start, around 15th position but already in the first lap I lost some positions. Towards the middle of the heat my arms were very hard and a crash in the last four laps didn’t help me. I finished 32nd. Certainly it is not the result I would have liked but we don’t give up and look forward to Finland.”
