Agueda, ospita il GP del Portogallo, quarto round del mondiale motocross. Adamo, autore di due solide manche in MX2, si conferma pilota da ‘top 5’. Forato, in MXGP, disputa due manche in rimonta e chiude nono di giornata. Weekend da dimenticare per Tuani e Ruffini nella EMX250.

Dopo la tappa argentina di Neuquen ed un weekend di sosta per necessità logistiche, il FIM Motocross World Championship ritorna in Europa per il GP del Portogallo. Teatro dell’evento è il tracciato di Agueda e per l’occasione, ritornano in pista anche i ragazzi del Campionato EMX250. Per l’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery, oltre ad Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2) e Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP), ritroviamo in gara anche Federico Tuani #3 e Luca Ruffini #699.
La sessione di libere del sabato mattina, si chiudono con Federico 25° e Luca 36°. Nelle seguenti cronometrate, entrambi i ragazzi centrano la qualifica rispettivamente con il 30° ed il 36° tempo. La prima frazione di gara della EMX250 vede Luca e Federico molto arretrati al termine della prima tornata. Entrambi fuori dalla ‘top 20’ si ritrovano rispettivamente 23° e 29° ma mentre Federico rimonta velocemente numerose posizioni e cerca di portarsi a ridosso della ‘top 20’, Luca indietreggia. Quando la bandiera a scacchi sancisce la fine della manche, Federico risulta 23° e non riesce ad agguantare la ‘zona punti’; Luca è già ai box perché ritirato dopo una caduta.
La seconda manche della EMX250, ha lo stesso prologo ed epilogo di quella disputata sabato. Partendo da una posizione in griglia non favorevole, sia Federico che Luca si trovano molto arretrati nelle prime fasi di gara e sono costretti a rimontare. Mentre Luca impiega più tempo a risalire attraverso il gruppo, Federico riesce ad essere più incisivo ma verso metà gara, entrambi sono molto lontani dalla ‘top 20’. Quando la manche giunge al termine, Federico si classifica 25°; Luca risulta ritirato nel corso dell’ottavo giro dopo l’ennesima caduta. Per i due ragazzi della EMX250, anche il GP del Portogallo non porta i risultati sperati.
Quando la MX2 si schiera in griglia di partenza per la manche di qualifica, Andrea si posiziona 8° grazie ad un buon tempo ottenuto nelle cronometrate. Concluso il giro iniziale Adamo è 11° ma rapidamente avanza di una posizione e si stabilizza nella ‘top 10’. Quando il commissario di gara espone la bandiera a scacchi, il siciliano taglia il traguardo in 8°. Gara 1 vede l’eccellente partenza di Andrea che con uno splendido spunto in uscita dal cancelletto si posiziona subito 2°. Il siciliano tiene la posizione sino alla fine del secondo giro, per poi scivolare in 3a. Nelle restanti tornate di gara che conducono alla bandiera a scacchi, Andrea guida con autorevolezza in 4a posizione per poi chiudere con un 5° posto. La seconda manche vede ancora una volta Andrea tra i protagonisti in partenza con la GasGas #80 che transita 6a al termine della prima tornata. Sino all’ottavo passaggio Adamo conserva la posizione ma dopo un piccolo errore, si ritrova 7° al traguardo. Con i due risultati ottenuti, Andrea chiude il suo GP con un 6° posto di giornata; in classifica generale si conferma 5°.
Il weekend portoghese di Alberto inizia sabato con un 14° tempo nelle libere e un 16° tempo nelle cronometrate. A queste due prestazione, fa seguito poi un 16° posto nella manche di qualifica dopo una brutta partenza. Domenica è tutta un’altra storia. Nella prima manche Alberto è subito 11° dopo il via. Con un’andatura regolare, Forato amministra la posizione per poi approfittare nel finale di gara dell’errore di un avversario e agguantare il 10° posto. Nelle battute iniziali della seconda manche, Alberto si ritrova a poche posizioni di distanza dalla ‘top 10’. Dal 13° posto il veneto comincia la sua rimonta e trascorsa metà gara è 11°. Nelle restanti tornate, Alberto ‘macina’ giri veloci e continua a recuperare terreno sugli avversari tanto da chiudere la manche 8°. A fine giornata, Forato si ritrova 9° in classifica, conservando la stessa posizione in classifica generale.
Senza fine settimane di sosta, il mondiale motocross ritorna in Italia per il quinto round stagionale. Nelle date del 9 e 10 Aprile si terrà il GP del Trentino, sul tracciato di Pietramurata (TN).
Andrea Adamo #80: “E’ stato un solido weekend concluso con un 5° ed un 7° posto. Un piccolo rammarico perché in gara 2 sono caduto quando mi accingevo a portarmi in quarta posizione e ho perso due posizioni. ora torniamo a casa e ci prepariamo per Pietramurata.”
Alberto Forato #303: “Weekend di alti e bassi. Sabato ero in giornata ‘no’, ho tribolato tanto in qualifica ed ho chiuso 16°. Purtroppo in partenza la posizione contava molto su questa pista perciò in partenza non è stato facile. Domenica mattina ho cambiato il ‘setting’ ed è andata molto meglio con due manche da ‘top 10’ e un 9° di giornata. Ora facciamo ritorno in Italia e ci prepariamo per Pietramurata.”
Federico Tuani #3: “E’ stato un weekend difficile, le brutte qualifiche hanno compromesso un po’ tutto. Nelle manche due brutte partenze e ho recuperato il più possibile. In gara 2 i tempi sul giro non erano malissimo ma comunque sto facendo molta fatica. Speriamo che questo periodo finisca al più presto. Grazie a tutti.”
Luca Ruffini #699: “Le qualifiche sono andate così così ma sono riuscito a qualificarmi. Nella prima manche sono partito male e quando mi trovavo 32° posizione sono scivolato e retrocesso praticamente ultimo. Nella seconda manche sempre una brutta partenza nelle retrovie. Verso fine gara ho fatto una brutta caduta su un salto che mi ha costretto al ritiro. C’è da lavorare ancora tanto ma non si molla.”

Agueda hosted the fourth round of the Motocross World Championship, the GP of Portugal. Adamo made two solid races in MX2 and confirmed himself in the “top 5” group of riders. Forato in MXGP had to make two comebacks and finished 9th Overall. Weekend to forget for Tuani and Ruffini in EMX250.
After a weekend of stop due to the logistical needs that were required to come back in Europe from Neuquen, Argentina, FIM Motocross World Championship went to Agueda circuit for the GP of Portugal. On this occasion the riders of the EMX250 Championship were present too. SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery, other than Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2) and Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP), also deployed Federico Tuani #3 and Luca Ruffini #699.
Federico finished 25th and Luca 36th in the Saturday morning Free Practice session. In the following Timed Practice both riders qualified with the 30th and the 36th fastest lap times. At the end of the first lap of EMX250 Race 1 Luca and Federico were in the very back of the group. Both riders were out of the “top 20”, in P23 and P29 respectively, but while Federico made a fast recovery and moved up numerous places, Luca went back. At the checkered flag Federico was in 23rd position as he could not enter the “points area”; Luca was already at the box as he retired after a crash.
EMX250 Race 2 had the same prologue and the same epilogue of the previous one. Federico and Luca started from a penalizing gate, so they straight away found themselves in the back and they were forced to recover. While Luca took some time to move up through the field, Federico was punchier, but both of them were far from the “top 20” at half of the race. When the race finished Federico was 25th, while Luca retired at lap 8 due to the umpteenth crash. For both riders of the EMX250, the GP of Portugal did not finish with the expected results.
Andrea positioned in 8th position at the starting gate of the MX2 Qualifying Race, thanks to a good lap time obtained in Timed Practice. After lap 1 Adamo was in P11 but he rapidly moved up one place and he stabilized in the “top 10”. When the steward waved the checkered flag the Sicilian crossed the line in P8. In Race 1 Andrea made an excellent start, as he beautifully jumped out of the gates, positioning 2nd. The Sicilian kept the position until the end of lap 2, and then moved back again in P3. During the remaining laps Andrea rode with authority in 4th place and he finished the race in P5. In Race 2 Andrea once again was one of the fastest at the start, with the GasGas #80 that crossed lap 1 finish line in 6th place. Adamo kept the position until lap 8, but he then made a little mistake and he ended the race in P7. Thanks to the results that he obtained Andrea finished the GP in 6th place Overall; he also kept the 5th position in the General Classification.
The Portuguese weekend of Alberto started with the 14th place in Free Practice and the 16th in Timed Practice. His performance was then followed by the 16th position in Qualifying Race after that he made a bad start. On Sunday it was all different. In Race 1 Alberto was 11th after the start. With a regular pace, Forato managed his placement and took advantage of one of his opponents’ mistake in the final laps, finishing in P10. At the start of Race 2 Alberto was not far away from the “top 10”. From the 13th place the rider from Veneto began his comeback and at half of the race he was 11th. During the remaining laps Alberto made some fast laps and he continued his comeback, finishing the race in P8. At the end of the day Forato was ranked 9th Overall, keeping the same placement in the General Classification.
With no weekend of stop, the Motocross World Championship will go back to Italy for the 5th round of the season. On the 9th and the 10th of April the Pietramurata circuit, in Trento, will host the GP of Trentino.
Andrea Adamo #80: “It was a solid weekend, ending with a P5 and a P7. A bit of regret because in Race 2 I crashed while I was moving towards P5 and I lost two positions. Now we go back home and prepare for Pietramurata”.
Alberto Forato # 303: “Weekend of ups and downs. I was on a ‘no’ day on Saturday, I struggled a lot in qualifying and finished 16th. Unfortunately at the start the position counted a lot on this track so at the start it was not easy. Sunday morning I changed the ‘setting’ and it went much better with two ‘top 10’ heats and a 9th overall. Now we are returning to Italy and preparing for Pietramurata. ”
Federico Tuani # 3: “It was a difficult weekend, the bad qualifying compromised a bit of everything. Two bad starts in the heats and I recovered as much as possible. In race 2 the lap times weren’t too bad but I’m still struggling a lot. We hope this period ends soon. Thank you all.”
Luca Ruffini # 699: “Qualifying went like this but I managed to qualify. In the first heat I got a bad start and when I was 32nd I crashed and relegated practically last. In the second heat always a bad start in the rear. Towards the end of the race I had a bad fall on a jump that forced me to retire. There is still a lot of work to be done but we can’t give up. ”
