Neuquen, in Patagonia-Argentina, ospita il terzo round del mondiale motocross. Weekend sofferto per i piloti dell’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery. Adamo in evidenza solo in gara 2 dove con un ottimo sesto posto conserva la ‘top 5’ in campionato. Forato fatica in entrambe le manche ma limita i danni e resta decimo in classifica generale.

A due anni dall’ultimo GP fuori dai confini europei, il FIM Motocross World Championship ritorna in Patagonia Argentina dove nella spettacolare cornice naturale fatta di foreste e laghi, sorge il tracciato di Neuquen, caratterizzato da un fondo medio morbido composto prettamente da sabbia vulcanica. Per l’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery, sono presenti nelle due classi mondiali Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2) e Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP).
La giornata di sabato inizia per Andrea con un 6° tempo nelle libere seguito da un 10° tempo nelle cronometrate. Nella manche di qualifica, Andrea parte bene ed è subito nella ‘top 10’. Impegnato in una furiosa rimonta, nel corso del terzo giro entra in contatto con un avversario quando è 6° e la caduta, lo costringe al ritiro. La giornata di Alberto si apre con un 14° ed un 15° tempo rispettivamente nelle libere e cronometrate. Nella manche di qualifica, Alberto conduce una gara regolare a centro classifica ottenendo il 13° posto finale.
Nella prima frazione di gara della domenica mattina, Andrea transita 14° poche curve dopo la partenza. Nel corso del secondo giro, il siciliano incappa in una scivolata e si ritrova ultimo in classifica. Impegnato in una difficile rimonta su una pista veloce e impegnativa, Adamo non riesce ad essere molto incisivo e dopo una rapido recupero sino all’11a piazza, non riesce ad avanzare ulteriormente ritrovandosi appena fuori dalla ‘top 10’ sotto la bandiera a scacchi. In gara 2, la partenza di Andrea è leggermente migliore ma dopo appena un giro, l’esposizione della bandiera rossa rimanda tutti i piloti in griglia di partenza. Il secondo avvio di gara 2, vede Andrea centrare subito la ‘top 10’. Nelle prime caotiche fasi della manche Andrea cede qualche posizione ma rapidamente trova il giusto ritmo e giro dopo giro recupera posizioni. La gara termina con Andrea che conquista un ottimo 6° posto ‘raddrizzando’ un weekend iniziato male. Grazie ai due piazzamenti ottenuti, Andrea si aggiudica il 7° posto di giornata conservando così il suo 5° posto in classifica generale.
La prima manche della classe MXGP vede Alberto posizionarsi 14° al termine del primo giro. Lungo le venti tornate di gara, Alberto riesce solo a recuperare due posizioni nel corso dei primi passaggi per poi assestarsi definitivamente in 12a piazza e gestire la sua corsa sino al traguardo. In avvio di gara 2, la partenza di Alberto ricalca quella della precedente frazione con il veneto che transita 13° dopo il primo rilevamento cronometrico ed anche la prestazione lungo tutta la manche, non differisce molto da quella precedentemente messa in atto. Alberto guida tutta la corsa in tra la 13a e la 14a piazza per poi tagliare il traguardo 13°. A fine giornata, è accreditato del 14° posto; in classifica generale riesce a conservare la 10a posizione.
Per il quarto round, il FIM Motocross World Championship farà ritorno in Europa. Team e piloti si ritroveranno sul tracciato di Agueda, dove nel primo weekend di Aprile si terrà il GP del Portogallo.

Neuquen, in Patagonia-Argentina, hosted the third round of the Motocross World Championship. It was a suffering weekend for SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery riders. Adamo highlighted only in Race 2, where the 5th place allowed him to keep the “top 5” in the General Classification. Forato struggled in both races but he managed to keep the 10th place in the Championship.
After two years since the last GP out of European borders, FIM Motocross World Championship went back to Patagonia, Argentina, where the Neuquen circuit shows up in the middle of a spectacular natural frame made by forests and lakes. The track is characterized by a medium soft surface made out of volcanic sand. SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery deployed Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2) and Alberto Forato (MXGP).
On Saturday Andrea began the weekend with the 6th place in Free Practice and the 10th in Timed Practice. In Qualifying Race Andrea made a good start and he positioned straight away in the “top 10”. During lap 3, while he was making a furious comeback, he made contact with an opponent and the crash forced him to retire when he was in P6. Alberto, instead, made it to the 14th and the 15th place respectively in Free and Timed Practice. In Qualifying Race he conducted a regularly paced run and he finished in P13.
On Sunday morning, Andrea was 14th after a few corners of Race 1. During lap 2, though, the Sicilian had a slip and he found himself in last place. Adamo tried his best, but in such a quick and challenging circuit he was not able to complete his comeback to the “top 10”, as he passed in P11 at the checkered flag. In Race 2 Andrea made a better start, but after one lap only, the stewards waved the red flag and the riders had to go back to the starting gates. At the second start Andrea entered straight away in the “top 10”. During the first chaotic phases of the race he lost a few positions but he quickly found his pace and he made up for it. At the end, Andrea conquered an excellent P6, a result that improved the general trend of the weekend. Thanks to those placements Andrea ranked 7th Overall and he was able to keep the 5th place in the General Classification.
In Race 1 of the MXGP class Alberto was 14th at the end of lap 1. During the 20 remaining laps hemoved up a couple of places only, and he finished in 12th place after a well managed race. At the start of Race 2 Alberto made the same performance again, ending lap 1 in P13 and keeping the same controlled pace that he showed in the previous race. He did not move a lot from where he was, and he crossed the finish line in 13th position. At the end of the day he was ranked in P14, a placement that allowed him to keep the 10th place in the General Classification.
The fourth round of FIM Motocross World Championship will take place back in Europe. Teams and riders will move to Agueda circuit, where the GP of Portugal will be hosted on the first weekend of April.
