Maggiora ospita il primo round del Campionato Italiano MX Prestige 2021 e nella classe MX2, l’ SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery subito a podio con Horgmo secondo assoluto. Bene anche Adamo che centra la ‘top 10’. Nella MX1, Forato è quinto assoluto grazie ad un ottimo terzo posto in gara 1.

Terminati gli Internazionali d’Italia Motocross Eicma Series e dopo una pausa di circa un mese, team e piloti tornano in pista nel secondo weekend di Aprile per il round di apertura del Campionato Italiano MX Prestige su uno dei tracciati più storici ed importanti del panorama italiano, quello del ‘Mottaccio del Balmone’ di Maggiora, in provincia di Novara.
L’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery schiera Andrea Adamo #80 e Kevin Horgmo #24 nella classe MX2, Alberto Forato #303 nella classe MX1.
Nel primo pomeriggio del Sabato, prendono il via le sessioni di prove libere e cronometrate. Entrambe le classi, vengono suddivise in tre gruppi visto l’alto numero di piloti iscritti all’evento. Al termine della giornata, nella MX2 Horgmo è il più veloce del suo gruppo e conquista il 2° posto assoluto sullo schieramento di partenza. Adamo risulta 3° del suo gruppo e in griglia di partenza si posiziona 8°. Nella MX1, Forato è 2° del suo gruppo e viene accreditato del 4° cancelletto.
La domenica mattina il tracciato si presenta ai piloti in condizioni nettamente peggiori rispetto al sabato a causa della tanta pioggia caduta nella notte. I primi a scendere in pista sono i ragazzi della MX1. Alberto mette a segno una buona partenza e centra subito la ‘top 5’ dopo la prima curva, posizionandosi 4°. Dopo qualche giro di adattamento al tracciato dal fondo molto fangoso, Alberto risale in 3a piazza e con una condotta di gara regolare la tiene sin sotto la bandiera a scacchi.
Kevin Horgmo #24
Nella prima manche della MX2, Horgmo parte benissimo e prima della fine del giro iniziale prende la testa della corsa e la tiene sino al sesto giro quando, a causa di un leggero affaticamento degli avambracci e di qualche doppiato di troppo, subisce un sorpasso e si ritrova 2°, posizione che riesce poi a tenere sino a fine manche. Adamo dopo la partenza è leggermente più attardato è si ritrova ai margini della ‘top 10’, in 10a piazza. La sua condotta di gara è regolare e dopo essersi affacciato in 8a piazza, conclude la corsa 9°.
Alberto Forato #303
Nel primo pomeriggio sono previste le seconde manche. Il tracciato è molto più asciutto rispetto al mattino ma anche molto più segnato ed insidioso. Nella MX1 Alberto non riesce a ‘bissare’ l’ottima partenza di gara 1 e si ritrova fuori dalla ‘top 20’ dopo una piccola scivolata. Per tutta la gara è costretto a recuperare posizioni e dopo una strepitosa rimonta, sul ‘finish line’ transita 9°. In classifica di giornata, centra la ‘top 5’ con un solido 5° posto dimostrando una buona velocità ed un’ottima condizione fisica.
Andrea Adamo #80
Nella MX2, ancora una manche sensazionale quella del finlandese Horgmo che parte davanti a tutti e conduce per numerose tornate. Verso metà gara Kevin subisce alcuni sorpassi ma una volta 3°, amministra bene la sua posizione e la tiene sino a fine gara. A fine giornata risulta 2° assoluto e conquista il suo primo podio in sella alla GASGAS dell’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery. Manche fotocopia della precedente invece per Andrea Adamo che centra ancora una volta la ‘top 10’ con un solido 8° posto. In classifica di campionato, il siciliano viene accreditato del 9° posto assoluto.
Il secondo appuntamento con il Campionato Italiano MX Prestige, è fissato per il weekend del 24 e 25 Aprile sul tracciato internazionale ‘Città di Mantova’, in Lombardia.
Andrea Adamo #80: “Sabato in qualifica ho avuto un discreto risultato. Domenica invece, dopo la tanta pioggia, non è stata una gran bella giornata per me. La pista era difficile per tutti, ma particolarmente per me. Vedremo di lavorare con il team per capire cosa c’è da modificare nella moto per poter tornare al più presto al ‘top’. Grazie e alla prossima.”
Alberto Forato #303: “E’ stato un bel weekend e nonostante la tanta pioggia, la pista ha tenuto bene. Nella prima manche sono partito bene ed ho chiuso 3°. Nella seconda, mi sono ritrovato dietro dopo una caduta al primo ed ho rimontato sino al 9° posto. Prossima gara quella di Mantova e lavoriamo per migliorarci ancora. Ciao.”

Maggiora hosted the first round of the Italian MX Prestige 2021 Championship and, in the MX2, SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery jumped straight away on the podium with Horgmo, 2nd overall. Good race for Adamo too, who entered in the “top 10”. In the MX1 Forato finished 5th overall thanks to an excellent 3rd place in race 1.
The Internazionali d’Italia Motocross Eicma Series finished a month ago, and teams and riders went back to the tracks on the second weekend of April for the opening round of the Italian MX Prestige Championship at one of the most historical and important circuits of Italy, the “Mottaccio del Balmone” in Maggiora, in Novara province.
SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery deployed Andrea Adamo #80 and Kevin Horgmo #24 in the MX2 class and Alberto Forato #303 in the MX1.
Free and Timed Practice were scheduled in the first hours of the afternoon. Both classes were divided in three groups as many riders were registered for the event. At the end of the day, in the MX2 Horgmo was the fastest of his group and he gained the 2nd place at the starting grid. Adamo was 3rd fastest in his group and he classified 8th in the starting grid. In MX1 Forato was 2nd fastest in his group and he classified 4th for next day’s race.
On Sunday morning the surface of the track was in well worse conditions than the previous day, due to the great amount of rain that dropped during the night. The first riders that went on track were the ones of MX1. Alberto made a good start and he entered in the “top 5” after turn 1, gaining 4th place. After a few laps, in which he adapted to the muddy conditions of the surface, Alberto moved up to 3rd place and after a regular paced race he kept the placement until the checkered flag.
In MX2 first race, Horgmo started very well and before the end of lap 1 he gained the lead of the race, which he kept until lap 6 due to fatigue of his forearms and some lapped riders, as he was overtaken and moved down to 2nd place. He managed to keep that position until the end of the race. Adamo after the start was a little bit further back, as he was just in the “top 10” in 10th place. His pace was steady and after that he even moved up to 8th place he finished the race in 9th.
The race 2’s were scheduled on Sunday afternoon. The circuit was drier than the morning but also more rutted and insidious. In the MX1 Alberto was not able to repeat the excellent start of race 1 and he moved out of the “top 20” after a small crash. For the whole race he was forced to recover and after an awesome comeback, he cut the finish line in 9th place. In the Overall Classification he entered the “top 5” in 5th place, demonstrating to have speed and a good physical condition.
In the MX2 the Finnish Horgmo had another sensational race, as he started in the lead and he kept the 1st place for many laps. Towards half of the race Kevin was overtaken but once he was 3rd he well managed his position and he kept it until the end. In the Overall Classification he resulted 2nd and he conquered his first podium on his GASGAS for Team SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery. Andrea Adamo had the same solid race that he had in race 1, as he entered the “top 10” with the 8th place. In the General Standings, the Sicilian made it to the 9th place.
The second appointment of the Italian MX Prestige Championship is scheduled for the weekend of the 24th and the 25th of April at the “Città di Mantova” international circuit, in Lombardy, Italy.
Andrea Adamo #80: “On Saturday in Qualifying I made a discrete result. Sunday, instead, after the rain, it was not a great day for me. The surface was difficult for everybody, but for me particularly. We will look into it with the team to understand what we need to change on our bike to go back to the top the soonest. Thanks, to the next one”.
Alberto Forato # 303: “It was a good weekend and despite the heavy rain, the track held up well. In the first heat I got a good start and finished 3rd. In the second, I found myself behind after a fall in the first and I recovered up to 9th place. The next race in Mantua and we are working to improve even more. Hello.”
