Gran Premio positivo quello di Charente Maritime per l’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery. Sul duro tracciato di St. Jean d’Angely, risultati da ‘top 10’ sia per Adamo (MX2) che per Forato (MXGP). Nella EMX250, Ruffini centra la sua migliore prestazione stagionale in gara 2 dopo una buona partenza; gara sottotono per Tuani.
Per il penultimo round in calendario, il FIM Motocross World Championship torna in Francia per la seconda volta in questa stagione su un altro tracciato storico, quello di St. Jean d’Angely, caratterizzato da un fondo duro e compatto. Nel GP di Charente Maritime, insieme alle classi MXGP ed MX2, sono presenti anche i ragazzi della EMX250 impegnati nel decimo e conclusivo round stagionale.
Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2), Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP), Federico Tuani #3 (EMX250) e Luca Ruffini #669 (EMX250) vestono i colori del team emiliano SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery.
Nella quarto di litro dell’europeo, entrambi i ragazzi in sella alle GasGas centrano la qualifica: Ruffini chiude le cronometrate con un 22° tempo precedendo Tuani, che si attesta in 25a piazza. La prima manche della EMX250, prende il via come da copione sabato pomeriggio. Sia Ruffini che Tuani centrano subito la ‘top 20’ posizionandosi rispettivamente 16° e 20° ma col trascorrere dei giri, perdono terreno e retrocedono. Nonostante le quindici tornate, il duo della GasGas non riesce a riguadagnare la ‘zona punti’; Luca completa la corsa con il 24° posto mentre Federico chiude 27°.
Domenica mattina, i ragazzi si allineano per il via di gara 2. In questa seconda frazione, Ruffini riesce a trovare un buon varco e si posiziona subito all’interno della ‘top 10’; Tuani invece, rimane attardato ed è costretto a rimontare. Quando il direttore di gara sancisce la fine della manche esponendo la bandiera a scacchi, Luca transita 13° sul traguardo centrando la sua migliore prestazione in questa prima stagione. Federico rimonta alcune posizioni ma non riesce ad approdare alla ‘top 20’, transitando 22°. Redatta la classifica di giornata, Ruffini si classifica 23°, complice anche una piccola penalizzazione inflitta a fine gara dopo la prova fonometrica; Tuani 28°. La classifica finale del Campionato EMX250, vede Federico classificarsi 23° mentre Luca, al suo anno di esordio in questa competitiva serie, chiude 57° con solo due manche concluse a punti.
La classe MX2, nelle due sessioni di libere e cronometrate, vede un Adamo conservativo. Dopo un 15° tempo iniziale, il siciliano ottiene un definitivo 13° tempo. La giornata di sabato poi, prosegue con la manche di qualifica e Andrea centra subito una buona partenza posizionandosi all’interno nella ‘top 5’. Trascorsi alcuni giri, il siciliano si stabilisce definitivamente in 7a posizione tenendola di fatto sino alla bandiera a scacchi. Nella prima frazione della domenica mattina, Andrea centra una grandissima partenza curvando per primo e aggiudicandosi il suo primo holeshot nella classe MX2. Velocemente però, il siciliano viene riassorbito dal gruppo e sul traguardo del primo giro, si ritrova 6°. Con una prestazione consistente e senza sbavature, il siciliano tiene la posizione sino al traguardo e centra un altro importante. Nella seconda e conclusiva manche, Andrea si conferma veloce e determinato e dopo una buona partenza, conclude 9°. Il penultimo gran premio della stagione, si chiude per lui con un 9° posto di giornata che gli consente di tenere saldamente l’8a piazza in classifica generale.
Nella classe MXGP, il sabato di Forato inizia molto bene con un 5° tempo nelle libere. Nelle seguenti cronometrate, il veneto si dimostra a suo agio sul duro fondo francese ottenendo il 7° tempo. Nella manche di qualifica, Alberto si ritrova 11° dopo il via ma già prima della fine del giro iniziale, agguanta la 10a piazza. Nelle restanti quindici tornate, Forato tiene la posizione sino al traguardo. In gara 1, il veneto ribadisce il suo crescente stato di forma e la sua continuità nel mettere in campo prestazioni di livello: dopo una partenza a ridosso della ‘top 10’, Alberto risale attraverso il gruppo e conclude 9°. In gara 2, la partenza in 16a piazza lo costringe ad una dura rimonta che su un tracciato dal fondo duro e quasi mono traiettoria, lo impegna non poco. Nonostante tutto, l’alfiere della GasGas recupera sei posizione e agguanta ancora una volta la ‘top 10’ classificandosi 10°, ottenendo lo stesso risultato anche in classifica di giornata. Grazie al punteggio acquisito, Forato sale in 13a piazza in classifica generale.
Il round finale del FIM Motocross World Championship, si terrà nel fine settimana del 3 e 4 settembre. Teatro del GP della Turchia, sarà il tracciato di Afyonkarahisar.
Andrea Adamo #80: “E’ stata una gara abbastanza solida. In gara 1 dopo l’holeshot ho chiuso 6° con un buon ritmo; in gara 2 ho faticato a ritrovare lo stesso ‘feeling’ e ho chiuso 9°. Non male, ma sicuramente posso fare di meglio.”
Federico Tuani #3: “E’ stata una gara deludente… nient’altro da dire.”
Luca Ruffini #669: “Oggi è stata una bella gara, forse la migliore di questa stagione. Già dalle libere mi trovavo bene con la pista e in qualifica ho fatto un buon tempo anche se non sono mai riuscito a trovare la pista completamente libera. In gara 1 sono partito a metà gruppo ma un pilota che mi è caduto davanti mi ha ostacolato facendomi retrocedere in 30a posizione. In rimonta ho chiuso 24°. In gara 2 sono partito nella ‘top 10’ e dopo aver guidato a lungo in 11a posizione, ho chiuso 13°. Purtroppo però a fine gara non sono rientrato nei limiti della prova fonometrica e mi hanno retrocesso di cinque posizioni. Sono un po’ rammaricato per questa penalizzazione ma tutto sommato la gara è andata bene.”

Positive GP at Charente Maritime for the SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery. On the hard-surfaced track of St. Jean d’Angely “top 10” results for both Adamo (MX2) and Forato (MXGP). In the EMX250 Ruffini made his best result of the season in Race 2 after a good start; Tuani did not have a good race.
FIM Motocross World Championship went back to France, for the second time this season and for its second-to-last round, at another historical circuit, the St. Jean d’Angely, which is featured by a hard and compact surface. In the GP of Charente Maritime, together with the MXGP and the MX2 class, there also were the riders of the EMX250 Championship, for their 10th and last round of the season.
Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2), Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP), Federico Tuani #3 (EMX250) and Luca Ruffini #669 (EMX250) were deployed by SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery from Emilia Romagna.
In the quarter-of-liter class, for the European Championship, both riders on their GasGas qualified for the races: Ruffini finished Timed Practice in P22, ahead of Tuani who was in P25. EMX250 Race 1 started as scheduled on Saturday afternoon. Both Ruffini and Tuani started in the “top 20” straight away, as they positioned in 16th and 20th place respectively, but lap by lap they moved back. Despite the 15 laps long race, the GasGas duo could not make it to the points-area; Luca finished the race in P24, while Federico was in P27.
On Sunday morning the riders aligned for Race 2. In this race Ruffini managed to find a good gap at the start as he positioned in the “top 10” straight away; Tuani, instead, was in the back and he was forced to recover. When the race director displayed the checkered flag Luca crossed the line in 13th position, which is his best result of the season. Federico recovered a little but he could not make it better than P22. Ruffini finished the day in 23rd place Overall (he was also penalized after the race as a result of a phonometric check); Tuani finished 28th. In the final General Classification of the EMX250 Championship Federico ended in 23rd place while Luca, who debuted this year in this challenging class, finished in P57 as a result of only two races where he gained points.
In the MX2, in both Free and Timed Practices, Adamo was conservative. After the 15th fastest lap time of the opening session, the Sicilian ended in P13. Saturday continued with the Qualifying Race and Andrea hit the “top 5” straight away after the start. After a few laps he stabilized in P7 and he kept the position until the checkered flag. On Sunday morning, in Race 1, Andrea made an awesome start as he took turn 1 in 1st place for the first holeshot of his MX2 career. The Sicilian, though, was quickly reabsorbed by the group and after lap 1 he was in 6th place. With a consistent pace and no mistakes made, he kept the position until the end and he made another important result. In Race 2 Andrea again showed speed and determination and after a good start he finished in P9. The second-to-last round of the season awarded him with the 9th position Overall, a result that allowed him to keep the 8th place in the General Classification.
In the MXGP, Forato’s Saturday started very well with the 5th fastest lap time of Free Practice. In the following Timed Practice the rider from Veneto showed some good confidence with the French circuit and he finished in P7. In Qualifying Race Alberto was in P11 after the start but before the end of lap 1 he was already in 10th place. In the remaining 15 laps Forato kept the position until the end. In Race 1 the rider from Veneto confirmed his good shape and his consistency: after a start that saw him missing out the “top 10” by a little, Alberto moved up through the group and finished in 9th position. In Race 2 he started in P16, so he was forced to recover on a circuit that has only one line and a hard surface, which was not easy. Despite this, the GasGas rider recovered 6 places and finished the race once again in the “top 10”, in P10, which was also his placement in the Overall Classification. Thanks to those results, Forato moved up to the 13th place in the General Classification.
The final round of the FIM Motocross World Championship will take place on the weekend of the 3rd and the 4th of September. The place that will host the event will be Afyonkarahisar, at the GP of Turkey.
Andrea Adamo #80: “It was quite a solid round. In Race 1 after the Holeshot I finished 6th with a good pace; In Race 2 I struggled to find the same “feeling” and I finished in P9. Not bad, but I can surely make better results”.
Federico Tuani #3: “It was a disappointing race…nothing else to say”.
Luca Ruffini # 669: “Today was a good race, perhaps the best of this season. Already from free practice I was comfortable with the track and in qualifying I set a good time even if I never managed to find the track completely free. In race 1 I started in the middle of the group but a driver who crashed in front of me hindered me and made me fall back to 30th position. In comeback I finished 24th. In race 2 I started in the ‘top 10’ and after driving a long time in 11th position, I finished 13th. Unfortunately, however, at the end of the race I did not return within the limits of the sound level test and they dropped me by five positions. I am a bit sorry for this penalty but all in all the race went well.”
