Sulla sabbia di Hyvinkää, teatro del GP di Finlandia, ancora un risultato da ‘top 10’ per Forato nella classe regina. Adamo, in MX2, porta a termine due solide manche nonostante una condizione fisica non perfetta ed una rovinosa caduta in gara 1. Gran Premio difficile per Tuani e Ruffini nella EMX250.
Il ‘tris’ di gare nel nord Europa, si completa con il GP della Finlandia che nel calendario del FIM Motocross World Championship, occupa la sedicesima casella delle diciotto stabilite ad inizio stagione.
A distanza di otto anni dall’ultimo GP, dopo averne ospitati ventitré dal 1965 in poi, il tracciato sabbioso di Hyvinkää situato a pochi chilometri dalla capitale Helsinki, accoglie le classi MXGP ed MX2 che insieme ad EMX125, EMX250 ed EMX Open, affrontano gli ultimi impegni stagionali.
Come per la precedente prova svedese, l’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery si presenta al completo con Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2), Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP), Federico Tuani #3 (EMX250) e Luca Ruffini #669 (EMX250).
Il clima mite e un bel sole accolgono i piloti della EMX250 nella mattinata di sabato. Dopo una discreta sessione di prove libere, le prove cronometrate confermano Federico nella ‘top 20’ con il 18° tempo ma anche le difficoltà di Luca, che chiude 41°. Purtroppo però, una caduta nelle prove di partenza e la conseguente forte contusione ad una spalla, compromettono definitivamente il weekend di Tuani. Nella prima manche, che si tiene nel primo pomeriggio, il toscano ci prova ma dopo alcuni giri nelle retrovie, si ritira. Ruffini, 22° dopo il via, cede rapidamente numerose posizioni e a fine gara, taglia il traguardo 35°. Alla seconda manche della domenica mattina, prende parte solo Luca ma anche in questa frazione, il lombardo resta lontano dalla ‘top 20’ chiudendo 35°. Termina così, con un nulla di fatto, il GP di Finlandia per i ragazzi della EMX250. Nonostante il doppio zero rimediato nelle due manche, Federico conserva il 21° posto in classifica generale.
Nella MX2, Adamo prende il via regolarmente, nonostante il ginocchio sinistro dolorante ma la sua prestazione è leggermente sottotono: dopo il 17° tempo ottenuto nelle libere, chiude 15° le cronometrate. La manche di qualifica del sabato pomeriggio, si compone di due fasi. Nella prima, interrotta e annullata dopo due giri per il mal funzionamento dei cancelletti di partenza, Andrea parte bene ed è 10° quando viene esposta la bandiera rossa. Nella seconda invece, il pilota GasGas cade in pieno rettilineo dopo un contatto e si ritrova 22° al termine del primo giro. Al termine delle undici tornate di gara, taglia il traguardo 19°. Domenica, nelle due frazioni di gara, Andrea stringe i denti e si rende protagonista di due solide rimonte centrando un 10 ° ed un 14° posto che gli valgono il 12° posto di giornata. In classifica di campionato però, il punteggio acquisito non gli è sufficiente per mantenere la 7a piazza, e scivola in 8a.
In MXGP, la mattina di Alberto comincia con un 7° tempo al termine delle prove libere a cui fa seguito un 12° tempo nella sessione di cronometrate. Nella manche di qualifica, ancora una volta il veneto non è tra i più rapidi in partenza ma già dal primo giro recupera terreno e dal 22° posto iniziale, velocemente guadagna la ‘top 20’, sino a tagliare il traguardo 15°, nonostante un piccolo problema tecnico. Domenica, in gara, Alberto centra una buona partenza nella prima manche e dalla 13° posizione iniziale, riesce a completare la corsa con un 8° posto dimostrando di essere sempre più vicino al suo stato di forma ideale. Nella seconda manche, la partenza in 23a posizione dopo una caduta lo impegna in una lunga e costante rimonta che gli consegna l’11a posizione . Grazie ai due punteggi acquisiti, Forato si riconferma ancora una volta pilota da ‘top 10’ centrando il 9° posto di giornata; in classifica generale conserva il suo 14° posto.
Per il diciassettesimo e penultimo round stagionale, il FIM Motocross World Championship si trasferisce in Francia dove sul tracciato di St. Jean d’Angely, si disputerà il GP di Charente Maritime. L’evento, vedrà anche la partecipazione dei ragazzi del Campionato EMX250, che disputeranno il loro decimo e ultimo GP stagionale.
Andrea Adamo #80: “Oggi parecchie cose non sono andate per il verso giusto, soprattutto dal punto di vista fisico. Il ginocchio era ancora dolorante e la caduta in partenza di gara 1 ha complicato il tutto. Cercherò di recuperare quanto più possibile in vista del GP di Francia.”
Federico Tuani #3: “Su questo weekend c’è poco da dire. Avevo un bel feeling con la pista e con la moto solo che nelle prove di partenza, dopo le cronometrate, sono caduto e ho urtato violentemente la spalla. In gara 1 ho provato ma il dolore era forte e mi sono ritirato. In gara 2, per evitare di correre ulteriori rischi, non sono partito. In settimana faremo accertamenti e spero di esserci in Francia.”

At the sand-surfaced Hyvinkää circuit, which hosted the GP of Finland, another “top 10” result for Forato in the top class. Adamo, in the MX2, finished two solid races despite a not perfect physical shape and a big crash in Race 1. Hard round for Tuani and Ruffini in the EMX250.
The three-in-a-row rounds in Northern Europe finished with the GP of Finland, which was the 16th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship out of 18 rounds scheduled.
8 years since the last GP, after that it hosted 23 of them from 1965, Hyvinkää circuit, located a few kilometers out of the capital, Helsinki, welcomed the MXGP and the MX2 together with the EMX125 and the EMX250 and the EMX Open for their last rounds of the season.
As well as the previous race, SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery deployed all of its riders, Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2), Alberto Forato (MXGP), Federico Tuani (EMX250) and Luca Ruffini #669 (EMX250).
Sun and good weather were partners of the EMX250 riders on Saturday morning. After a discrete session in Free Practice, Federico confirmed himself in the “top 20”, as he signed for the 18th fastest lap time, but Luca had a few issues and he finished 41st. Unluckily, though, a crash and a big bruise at his shoulder definitely compromised Tuani weekend. In Race 1, as it took place in the afternoon, the rider from Tuscany tried hard but he had to retire. Ruffini, who was 22nd after the start, lost a few places and finished 35th. On Sunday morning, only Luca took part of Race 2, and the rider stayed far away from the “top 20” as he finished in P35. The Gp of Finland finished with no points gained by the riders of the EMX 250. Despite the double zero collected by Federico, he kept the 21st place in the General Classification.
In the MX2 Adamo took part in the race despite the pain at his left knee, but his performance was quite subdued: he made it to P17 in Free Practice and P15 in Timed Practice. Qualifying Race, on Saturday afternoon, was divided in two: in the first part, which was canceled after lap 2 due to a malfunction of the starting gate, Andrea had a good start and he was 10th when the red flag was exposed. In the second part the GasGas rider crashed in the main straight after a contact with another rider and he was 22nd after lap 1. At the end of the 11 remaining laps he crossed the line in P19. On Sunday Andrea clenched his teeth and he made two solid recoveries, finishing Race 1 in 10th place and Race 2 in 14th, a result that awarded him with the 12th place Overall. Unluckily, though, the points that he gained were not enough to keep the 7th position in the General Classification, so he moved back to P8.
In MXGP Alberto’s morning started with the 7th fastest lap time in Free Practice which was followed by the 12th place in Timed Practice. In Qualifying Race once again the rider from Veneto was not the fastest at the start, but since lap 1 already he recovered from P22 to the “top 20”, and he finished the race in P15, despite a small techinical problem. On Sunday Alberto made a good start in Race 1 and he moved up from the 13th place to the 8th, showing that he is closer and closer to his best shape. In Race 2 he started in P23 after a crash, so he was forced to a long and constant recovery that moved him up to the 11th place. Thanks to the points that he gained, Forato confirmed himself as a “top 10” rider, as he finished the weekend in 9th place Overall. In the General Classification he kept the 14th position.
For the 17th and second-to-last round of the season, FIM Motocross World Championship will move to France at St. Jean d’Angely circuit, where the GP of Charente Maritime will take place. The event will also host the EMX250 Championship for the 10th and last round of the season.
Andrea Adamo #80: “Today a lot of things did not go well, especially with my physical shape. My knee was still hurting and the crash at the start of Race 1 complicated everything. I will try to recover as much as possible before the GP of France”.
Federico Tuani #3: “I don’t have a lot to say about this weekend. I had a good feeling with the circuit and with my bike but when I was trying the start, after Timed Practice, I crashed and I hurt my shoulder. In Race 1 I tried to ride but I was in pain, so I had to retire. In Race 2, to avoid more risks, I decided not to race. Next week we will make assessments and I hope I will go to France”.
