L’MXGP of Russia sul tracciato di Orlyonok apre la stagione del FIM Motocross World Championship. Due solide prestazioni consegnano ad Andrea Adamo il tredicesimo posto di giornata nella classe MX2.
Nel secondo weekend di giugno, la lunga attesa giunge al termine e sul tracciato russo di Orlyonok, il FIM Motocross World Championship prende il via con l’MXGP of Russia.
Il programma di gara, che risente ancora di un programma ‘speciale’ derivante dalla condizione pandemica mondiale, si sviluppa tutto in un solo giorno con i piloti che affrontano le prove libere e cronometrate la domenica mattina, per poi prendere il via delle manche di gara poche ore più tardi.
Con l’assenza di Alberto Forato #303, nella classe MX1, l’unico rappresentante dell’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery su suolo russo, è l’italiano Andrea Adamo #80 schierato nella classe MX2.
Sul tracciato dal fondo prettamente duro e in alcuni punti scivoloso, Adamo ottiene il 23° tempo nelle prove libere. Nelle seguenti cronometrate, il siciliano migliora leggermente la sua prestazione ottenendo il 22° tempo.
In gara 1 l’avvio vede Andrea occupare la 19° posizione sul traguardo del primo giro. Con un buon ritmo e senza incappare in errori, Andrea completa le diciotto tornate della manche mettendo assegno alcuni importanti sorpassi che gli consegnano il 14° posto finale.
In gara 2, Andrea mette a segno un’altra solida prestazione e dopo un avvio di gara simile a quello della precedente frazione comincia la sua rimonta che, passaggio dopo passaggio, sotto la bandiera a scacchi gli consegna il 13° posto. A fine giornata, dal computo delle manche, Andrea conquista il 13° posto di giornata, che rispecchia anche l’attuale posizione in campionato.
La stagione sportiva per l’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery proseguirà nel weekend del 19 e 20 giugno con il penultimo round del Campionato Italiano MX Prestige sul tracciato emiliano di Castellarano (RE). Poi, team e piloti voleranno in Inghilterra nel weekend del 26 e 27 Giugno per il secondo round del FIM Motocross World Championship sullo spettacolare tracciato di Matterley Basin.
Andrea Adamo #80: “Stamane in qualifica non è andata proprio bene ma poi ho messo a segno due buone manche. Per avere un buon risultato finale bisogna andare subito forte, fare una buona qualifica, ottenere un buon cancelletto e non sbagliare la partenza. L’obiettivo per la prossima gara è proprio questo e sono sicuro di poter puntare alla ‘top 10’. Ora si torna a casa e si continua a lavorare per migliorare sempre di più.”

MXGP of Russia, at Orlyonok circuit, opened the season of the FIM Motocross World Championship. Andrea Adamo had two solid races, a performance that helped him gaining the 13th place in the MX2 class.
On the second weekend of June, the long wait reached its end and the FIM Motocross World Championship had its beginning at Orlyonok circuit for the MXGP of Russia.
The program of the GP was still affected by the worldwide pandemic condition, so it had a special schedule that provided all in one day: the riders, then, had to go to the track on Sunday morning for Free and Timed Practice and race in the afternoon a few hours later.
Alberto Forato #303 was still absent from the MX1 class, so the only rider representing SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery in Russia was the Italian Andrea Adamo #80 in the MX2.
The surface of the track was pretty hard and slippery in some places, and Adamo made the 23rd fastest lap time in Free Practice. In Timed Practice, then, the Sicilian slightly improved his performance and finished in 22nd place.
In Race 1 Andrea began his race with the 19th place after lap 1. With a good pace and no mistakes, he completed the 18 laps length of the race making some overtakes and finishing in 14th position.
In Race 2 Andrea made another solid performance and after his start, similar to the one in the previous race, he made up some places until the 13th position at the checkered flag. At the end of the day, the classification saw him gaining the 13th final place which is the same placement of the General Classifcation.
The season for SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery will continue in the weekend of the 19th and the 20th of June, with the second-to-last round of the Italian Prestige MX Championship that will take place in Emilia Romagna at Castellarano (province of Reggio Emilia, Italy). Then, the team and the riders will fly to England when, on the 26th and the 27th of June, at the spectacular circuit of Matterley Basin, the second round of the FIM Motocross World Championship will take place.
Andrea Adamo #80: “This morning, in Qualifying, things didn’t go that well but I made two good races. You need to go fast straight away to have a good result, make a good Quali, gain a good starting gate and then make a good start. The target, for the next race, is exactly that and I’m sure I can obtain a placement in the “top 10”. Now we go home to continue working hard and improve more and more”.
