Antonio Cairoli ha vissuto in Francia il peggior momento della stagione fino a questo momento. Sin dalla manche di qualifica il siciliano ha riscontrato alcune difficoltà, come hanno dimostrato le due cadute che lo hanno limitato al 14esimo posto. In Gara 1 ha provato a riscattarsi, ma un errore dopo poche curve ha dato il via libera a Tim Gajser.
Nella manche di chiusura, è rimasto incastrato nel cancelletto di partenza ed è stato costretto a rimontare da fondo gruppo. Dopo poco però Cairoli incappa in un’altra scivolata e tutto diventa più difficoltoso. Sul traguardo è 17esimo mentre Gajser va a vincere e si porta a sole dieci lunghezze da Cairoli.
Romain Febvre si è presentato alla prova di casa non ancora al top della forma, ma si è impegnato al massimo per cercare di raccogliere il maggior numero di punti possibili. Nella prima gara ha ottenuto il quinto posto, mentre nella seconda ha animato il pubblico di casa, guidando per lunghi tratti la gara. In seguito, Tim Gajser lo ha rilevato al comando della frazione, ma per il transalpino è comunque arrivata la soddisfazione di tornare sul podio nell’assoluta di giornata. Una sensazione che gli mancava dal GP di Svizzera della stagione passata.
Romain Febvre
Samuele Bernardini è tornato in gara in Francia, dopo aver volutamente saltato la tappa portoghese. Il pilota toscano è partito bene in entrambe le manche, ma non è mai riuscito a concretizzare l’ottimo avvio. In Gara 1 si è piazzato 24esimo, mentre nella manche conclusiva ha preso anzitempo la via dei box.
Nella MX2, magnifica prestazione da parte di Jago Geerts: nella prima manche il belga ha strappato la vittoria a Jorge Prado, grazie anche ad un pregevole sorpasso effettuato a due giri dalla conclusione. In Gara 2 ha cercato di ripetere quanto fatto poco prima, ma nel corso delle ultime tornate il fiammingo è scivolato e si è così dovuto accontentare della piazza d’onore, tanto nella manche quanto nell’assoluta. Il successo ottenuto nella frazione inaugurale è stato il primo in carriera e gli ha permesso di balzare al terzo posto nella classifica generale.
Jago Geerts
Ancora una prova significativa da parte di Mitchell Evans che ha ribadito il suo ottimo stato di forma: l’australiano ha colto un settimo ed un quarto posto di manche, piazzandosi appena fuori dal podio nell’assoluta. L’esito positivo della trasferta in terra francese lo ha portato a conquistare la quinta posizione in Campionato.
Migliore performance stagionale per Zachary Pichon: l’alfiere del team Honda 114 Motorsports è uscito bene dai blocchi di partenza in ambedue le circostanze; con il passare dei giri ha perso alcune posizioni, ma si è mantenuto in zona punti e ha concluso in 12esima piazza nell’assoluta di giornata.
Mattia Guadagnini ha iniziato bene il weekend, registrando il miglior tempo nelle qualifiche del Gruppo 1. Al via di Gara 1, il leader del Campionato Europeo 125 è scattato in settima posizione; con il passare dei minuti il veneto ha iniziato a recuperare posizioni, terminando sul gradino più basso del podio.

Nella manche conclusiva, invece, si è installato alle spalle del padrone di casa Tom Guyon, rimanendoci fino alla bandiera a scacchi. L’alfiere del team Maddi Racing ha così conquistato la piazza d’onore e ha mantenuto la leadership in campionato.
Alberto Forato ha imitato il compagno di squadra, aggiudicandosi la seconda posizione assoluta nel GP. L’andamento delle due manche è stato segnato da cattive partenze, che hanno precluso al veneto la possibilità di ottenere un risultato migliore. In Gara 1, ha corso per buona parte della heat senza la sella, fattore che gli ha impedito di elargire una performance più consistente. Nonostante questo inconveniente, ha ottenuto il quarto posto; nell’ultima frazione ha dato nuovamente fondo a tutte le sue energie per rimontare. Il terzo posto finale gli ha permesso di acciuffare la piazza d’onore assoluta, risultato che ha confermato il primato nella classifica generale dell’Europeo 250.
Dopo aver ottenuto un buon risultato nella prova d’esordio, Raf Meuwissen è rimasto a secco di punti anche in quest’occasione: l’olandese ha concluso il GP a fondo gruppo, terminando in 35esima posizione.
Giuseppe Tropepe ha vissuto il GP di Francia tra alti e bassi: la frazione d’apertura è stata avara di soddisfazione per il pilota calabrese, a causa di una caduta che lo ha relegato in 31esima piazza. Gara 2 è andata meglio, grazie anche ad un ottimo spunto iniziale che lo ha collocato subito nelle posizioni di vertice. Il buon ritmo messo in mostra nel corso di tutta la manche, gli ha permesso di terminare quinto e di guadagnare tre posizioni nella classifica generale del campionato continentale della quarto di litro.
Meno fortunato il weekend di Mahy Villanueva e Matteo Puccinelli: il primo è entrato per un soffio in zona punti nel corso della prima manche, ritirandosi poi in quella successiva; il secondo, invece, ha cercato di prodigarsi nel tentativo di entrare nella top 20, ma non ha centrato l’obiettivo.
Alberto Forato
Fine settimana abbastanza soddisfacente per il team SDM Racing; l’unica nota stonata è scaturita da Gianluca Facchetti, incappato in una giornata da archiviare quanto prima. Per il giovane pilota azzurro, infatti, il weekend si è concluso con due ritiri. Buoni risultati, invece, per il resto della squadra: Rick Elzinga ha centrato la top 10 assoluta, frutto di un sesto e di un 13esimo posto di manche; 12esimo assoluto ha concluso l’iberico Ruben Fernandez, andato a punti in ambedue le frazioni, mentre l’australiano Caleb Grothues si è piazzato 19esimo, a causa di un ritiro in Gara 2 che gli ha negato un risultato migliore.
Impegnato nel Campionato Europeo 250, Alessandro Manucci ha provato a conquistare i primi punti stagionali, ma ha concluso entrambe le gare nelle retrovie, oltre la 30esima posizione.
Anche Max Ratschiller non ha raccolto soddisfazioni nel corso della trasferta francese: impegnato nell’Europeo 125, il pilota altoatesino ha fatto segnare il settimo posto nel Gruppo 2 di qualifica, ma in entrambe le heat si è poi ritirato, rimanendo ancora a secco di punti.
Da rimarcare la prestazione di Raffaele Giuzio, che a Saint Jean d’Angely ha disputato la migliore prova della stagione: in Gara 1 ha racimolato 2 punti, mentre nella manche di chiusura ha tenuto il ritmo dei migliori, classificandosi ottavo.
Il prossimo appuntamento con il Mondiale MXGP si svolgerà sull’impianto russo di Orlyonok; tappa che vedrà impegnati anche i piloti dell’Europeo EMX250, mentre quelli della ottavo di litro riprenderanno le ostilità il 23 giugno, sul tracciato tedesco di Teutschental.

BAD DAY FOR ANTONIO CAIROLI
Antonio Cairoli had the worst moment of the season in France. Since Qualifying Race the Sicilian dealt with some difficulties, as he fell off twice and he finished 14th. In Race 1 he tried to redeem, but a mistake after a few corners turned it easy for Tim Gajser. In Race 2 Antonio got stuck in the starting gate and he was forced to recover from the back of the group. After a few moments Cairoli then slipped and everything went harder. At the finish line he was 17th while Gajser won and reduced the gap to Cairoli to only 10 points.
Romain Febvre arrived to his home race without being in his best shape, but he tried to make the most of it to gain as many points as possible. In Race 1 he finished 5th, while in Race 2 he well entertained the audience as he was the leader of the race for a long time. Later on Tim Gajser overtook him but for the French there was satisfaction as he came back to the podium in his home race. A feeling that was missed since the Switzerland GP of the past season.
Samuele Bernardini had his comeback in France as he deliberately skipped the Portugal GP. The rider from Tuscany had good starts in both races, but he was not able to make a concrete result out of them. In Race 1 he finished 24th, while in Race 2 he had to retire.
In the MX2, awesome performance for Jago Geerts: in Race 1 he managed to pass Jorge Prado with a precious overtake when there were two laps to go and he won. In Race 2 he tried to repeat what he had done in Race 1 but he slipped when there were a few laps to the end. He then had to settle for the 2nd place in the race and in the final daily Overall. The win in Race 1 was the first one of his career and he is now in 3rd place in the General Classification.
Once again Mitchell Evans made a remarkable result, confirming his very good shape in this moment of the season: the Australian finished 7th in Race 1 and 4th in Race 2, and he finished just outside of the podium placements at the end of the day. This positive performance in France allowed him to gain the 5th place in the General Classification.
Best result of the season for Zachary Pichon: Team Honda 114 Motorsports rider went out well from the starting gate in both races. He lost a few positions during the races but he maintained himself in the points-area and he finished 12th in the daily Overall Classification.
Mattia Guadagnini started well the weekend, as he signed the fastest lap time in Group 1 Qualifying session. At the beginning of Race 1 the leader of the 125cc European Championship was 7th, but then he started to move up and he finished in 3rd place. In Race 2 he moved to the 2nd place, just behind Tom Guyon, and he kept the position until the checkered flag. Team Maddii Racing rider gained the 2nd place in the daily Overall Classification and he was then able to keep the lead of the Championship.
Alberto Forato imitated his teammate, as he finished 2nd in the daily Overall Classification. He had bad starts in both races, so the rider from Veneto could not manage to make a better result. In Race 1 he made it to the end having no saddle for most of the race, so he could not make a more consistent result. However, he finished in 4th place. In Race 2 he once again tried to make the most of it to move up. He ended the race in 3rd place so he gained the 2nd place in the daily Overall Classification, a result that allowed him to confirm his leadership in the 250cc European Championship General Classfication.
After that he made a good result at his debut, Raf Meuwissen finished once again out of the points area. The Dutch finished the GP at the back of the group as he occupied the 35th position.
Giuseppe Tropepe had up and downs in France: Race 1 had no satisfaction for the rider from Calabria, due to a crash that made him finish in 31st place. Race 2 went better, thanks to a great start, as he stayed in the front of the group for the whole race. The good pace that he had for the whole time allowed him to finish in 5th place and to gain three positions in the General Classification of the 250cc European Championship.
Less lucky weekend for Mahy Villanueva and Matteo Puccinelli: the first one entered in the points area in Race 1 in the last moments, but then he retired in Race 2. The second one, instead, tried to enter the Top 20 for both races but he could not make it.
Quite satisfying weekend for Team SDM Racing: the only bad result arrived from Gianluca Facchetti, who had a day to forget as soon as possible. The young Italian had to retire in both races. Good results, instead, for the rest of the team: Rick Elzinga entered the Top Ten in the daily Overall, as he finished 6th in Race 1 and 13th in Race 2; Ruben Fernandez finished 12th as he entered the points-area in both races; Caleb Grothues finished the weekend in 19th place, he had to retire in Race 2 and he could not make a better result.
Alessandro Manucci, in the 250cc European Championship, tried to gain his first points of the season. Unfortunately he finished both races in the back, behind the 30th place.
Max Ratschiller could not be satisfied too in France: he raced in the 125cc European Championship, and even though he made the 7th fastest lap time in Group 2 Qualifying session, he had to retire in both races and he gained no points once again.
Remarkable performance for Raffaele Giuzio, who had the best weekend of the season at Saint Jean d’Angely: in Race 1 he gained 2 points, while in Race 2 he kept the pace of the best riders and he finished in 8th place.
The next appointment of the MXGP World Championship will take place in Russia, at Orlyonok circuit. That weekend there will be the EMX250 European Championship too, while the EMX125 will race again on the 23rd of June at the German circuit of Teutschental.
