Il MXGP 2025 prende il via per Red Bull KTM in Argentina con una doppia presenza sul podio in MX2.

Il Red Bull KTM Factory Racing parte alla grande nel primo GP dell’anno in Argentina: doppio podio in MX2. Il Red Bull KTM Factory Racing ha preso il via per la prima volta quest’anno in un Gran Premio, e Sacha Coenen ha conquistato il 2° posto in Argentina con la sua KTM 250 SX-F.

Simon Laegenfelder ha chiuso 3° assoluto, garantendo così una doppia presenza KTM sul podio della categoria MX2 nella prima gara delle 20 in programma a Córdoba.  La nuova pista Infinito Race Track di Córdoba ha offerto un terreno morbido, un layout veloce, grandi salti ed è stata circondata da una folla numerosa per la sua inaugurazione in MXGP.

Lucas Coenen ha debuttato nella classe MXGP, portando la sua KTM 450 SX-F al 6° posto assoluto.  Sacha Coenen ha brillato in MX2 con i risultati di 9° e 1° nelle due manche, conquistando la seconda posizione assoluta.  Simon Laegenfelder ha chiuso terzo, mentre  Andrea Adamo** è stato 10° a causa di un ritiro nella prima manche.  Jeffrey Herlings è ancora in fase di recupero dopo l’operazione al legamento crociato anteriore destro, ma presto tornerà in sella alla sua KTM 450 SX-F per stabilire i tempi del suo ritorno in MXGP.

Un nuovo inizio in Argentina Il MXGP ha scoperto un circuito completamente nuovo per il Gran Premio d’Argentina.    L’Infinito Race Track  ha rappresentato un cambiamento rispetto alla storica sede di Neuquén, che aveva ospitato la tappa sudamericana dal 2015.  Squadre e piloti hanno cercato di interpretare al meglio il tracciato di Córdoba, inizialmente bagnato, ma che si è asciugato rapidamente grazie al clima caldo e alla superficie sabbiosa.

Sabato, la squadra MX2 ha fatto segnare i migliori tempi in qualifica:  Adamo, Coenen e Laegenfelder hanno registrato rispettivamente il 1°, 2° e 3° miglior giro nella sessione cronometrata. Adamo ha poi vinto la gara di qualificazione , guadagnando i primi punti della stagione davanti a Coenen (2°) e Laegenfelder (4°). Rossi ha chiuso al 19° posto a causa di una brutta partenza.  Lucas Coenen ha avuto problemi all’inizio della Heat MXGP, cadendo in curva 2 dopo un contatto con un altro pilota. Si è rialzato e ha concluso 19°.

Le manche della domenica sono state piene di colpi di scena su un tracciato che richiedeva alta velocità e massimo impegno. Sacha Coenen è caduto al primo giro della manche iniziale di MX2, la più umida della giornata, e ha rimontato fino alla 9ª posizione. Nella seconda manche ha preso l’ holeshot e ha conquistato la vittoria, guadagnandosi il secondo posto assoluto.

Simon Laegenfelder è arrivato 2° nella prima manche,   due piccole cadute nel pomeriggio lo hanno relegato al 6° posto, garantendogli comunque il terzo gradino del podio.  Andrea Adamo  ha dovuto ritirarsi nella prima manche a causa di un problema tecnico, ma nella seconda è stato molto chiuso chiudendo al 2° posto dietro Coenen.

Marc-Antoine Rossi ha concluso la giornata al 19° posto con un punteggio di 16-20.  Lucas Coenen , in MXGP, ha chiuso con un 7° e un 8° posto, totalizzando 27 punti per il 6° posto assoluto. Con il campionato ora ufficiale iniziato, la MXGP si sposta tra due settimane a Cozar, per il  Gran Premio di Castilla-La Mancha*

Lucas Coenen:  “La mia prima gara MXGP è stata piuttosto complicata. Non avevo le migliori sensazioni in pista o la migliore velocità, ma sono riuscito a partire bene nella gara di qualificazione finché un altro pilota non mi ha urtato la gamba e mi ha buttato a terra. Ho dovuto lottare duramente per risalire dall’ultimo al 19° posto ed è stato difficile. Ho fatto il reset per domenica e ho fatto del mio meglio. Sono arrivato due volte tra i primi dieci e sono davvero soddisfatto. Per me è quasi una vittoria in questo momento e abbiamo fatto dei buoni punti. Continueremo a migliorare e a puntare ancora più in alto per la Spagna”.

Sacha Coenen: “Sapevo di avere una buona velocità, ma non avevo grandi aspettative per questo Gran Premio; volevo solo spingere al massimo e vedere dove saremmo potuti arrivare. La caduta alla terza curva della prima manche non mi ha aiutato e mi ha costretto a risalire dall’ultima posizione. Non era l’ideale. Non abbiamo apportato modifiche alla moto perché mi sento davvero bene con il mio assetto, migliore rispetto alla scorsa stagione, e ci avevamo lavorato duramente quest’inverno. È andata benissimo nella seconda manche e ho avuto un buon flow dopo l’holeshot”

Simon Laegenfelder: “Mi sono sentito bene e veloce con la moto per tutto il weekend, ma non riesco davvero a spiegare cosa sia successo alla fine della seconda manche. Dobbiamo analizzare alcune cose in vista del prossimo GP. Sono in forma e ho guidato bene, ma dobbiamo correggere questi errori per la Spagna.”

Andrea Adamo: DNF e 2° per il 10° posto assoluto in MX2: “Un weekend davvero buono per me. P1 nella gara di qualificazione e Pole Position sono state fantastiche, ma poi è stato un peccato avere un problema in gara uno e un DNF perché mi sentivo bene tutto il giorno. Con P2 nella seconda manche credo che avremmo potuto lasciare l’Argentina con un podio e forse la tabella rossa, comunque, buone sensazioni con la moto e buona velocità e forma fisica, quindi ora non vediamo l’ora di andare in Spagna”

Marc-Antoine Rossi: “Non è stato facile tornare al ritmo da Gran Premio su questa pista! Non sono molto soddisfatto della mia guida: il caldo e il tracciato sono stati impegnativi per me, ma questo è stato un passo per rientrare in competizione e sto ancora imparando. La Spagna potrebbe essere un po’ meglio per me.”

Simon Laegenfelder takes 3rd while Andrea Adamo was 10th after a first moto DNF Jeffrey Herlings will soon occupy the saddle of his KTM 450 SX-F in the next comeback step from right ACL reconstruction. The Dutchman will then confirm a timescale for his MXGP return MXGP discovered a brand-new circuit for the Grand Prix of Argentina and the Infinito Race Track offered a different setting compared to the venue at Neuquen that had been the home of the South American fixture since 2015. The teams and riders tried to unlock all the fastest lines and potential of the course in Cordoba that was initially wet but quickly dried through the Sunday motos thanks to the warm climate and soft, sandy nature of the surface. The Red Bull KTM Factory line-up flew across the Atlantic with one representative in the MXGP class (Lucas Coenen) and four in the MX2 category (Andrea Adamo, Sacha Coenen, Simon Laegenfelder and Marc-Antoine Rossi) and with Jeffrey Herlings on the comeback path from injury. On Saturday the MX2 crew set a marker with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd best lap-times in Timed Practice. Adamo, Coenen and Laegenfelder hit the front again in the RAM Qualification Heat and the Italian logged the first maximum points of the campaign with victory ahead of the Belgian in P2 and the German in 4th. Rossi was 19th after a poor start. Lucas Coenen was also struggling at the launch of the MXGP Heat as contact with another rider put him on the floor into Turn 2. He remounted and made it to the flag in 19th. Sunday’s motos was the scene for more drama as the track invited a high pace and full commitment. Coenen fell on the first lap of the opening MX2 sprint (with the course in its wettest state) and worked his way back to 9th but then owned the second moto holeshot and took the checkered flag. Laegenfelder was P2 in the first moto but two small late falls in the afternoon dropped him to 6th and meant the third step of the podium. Adamo had to pull out of the initial moto with a technical issue and after spinning on the metal gate at the start. The former world champ was strong in the second moto to follow home Coenen for P2. Rossi ended the day with 19th after a 16-20 scorecard. In MXGP Lucas Coenen closed a steady day of action with 7-8 scores and took home 27 points for P6. With the championship now underway, MXGP will hurry onto Cozar for the Grand Prix of Castilla la Mancha in two weeks. Lucas Coenen, 7th and 8th for 6th overall in MXGP: “My first MXGP race was quite tricky. I didn’t have the best feeling on the track or the best speed but managed a good start in the Quali race until another rider ran into my leg and put me down. I had to fight hard to come back from last to 19th and that was tough. I reset for Sunday and did my best. I finished in the top ten twice and I’m really pleased. It’s almost like a win for me right now and we made some good points. We’ll keep building and swing even higher for Spain.” Sacha Coenen, 9th and 1st for 2nd overall in MX2: “I knew I had good speed but I didn’t really have any expectations for this Grand Prix; I just wanted to push my hardest and see where we could arrive. The crash in the third corner of the first moto did not help and meant I had to come back from last position. it was not ideal. We didn’t make any changes to the bike because I feel really good with my setting – better than last season – and we’d worked hard for that this winter. It was great in the second moto and I had good flow after the holeshot.”   Simon Laegenfelder, 2nd and 6th for 3rd overall in MX2: “I was feeling good and fast with the bike this weekend and I cannot really explain what happened at the end of the second moto. We have to figure some things out for the next Grand Prix. I’m fit and could ride well but we have to look at these mistakes and put them right for Spain.”   Andrea Adamo, DNF and 2nd for 10th overall in MX2: “A really good weekend for me. P1 in the Qualifying race and Pole Position was super but then it as a bummer to have a problem in race one and a DNF because I had been feeling good all day. With P2 in the second moto I believe we could have left Argentina with a podium and maybe the red plate, anyway, good feelings with the bike and good speed and fitness so we’re looking forward to Spain now.” Marc-Antoine Rossi, 16th and 20th for 19th overall in MX2: “It was not easy to be back at Grand Prix speed on this track! I’m not that happy with my riding: the heat and the track itself was tough for me but this was a step back to competition and I’m still learning. Spain might be a bit better for me.”
