Sul tracciato turco di Afyonkarahisar, il francese Maxime Renaux sfiora il podio assoluto della classe MX2.
La penultima prova del Campionato del mondo ha visto Maxime Renaux confermarsi nelle posizione di vertice della quarto di litro. Il francese ha offerto una prestazione di alto livello e, se non avesse commesso qualche piccola sbavatura, avrebbe potuto ottenere il secondo podio stagionale.

Il weekend è iniziato molto bene, grazie alla significativa prestazione realizzata nella heat di qualifica. Una manche regolare per il transalpino, scattato con prontezza dai blocchi di partenza. In breve, è poi riuscito a portarsi in 3° posizione, mantenendo il risultato fino alla bandiera a scacchi. In Gara 1 ha avuto nuovamente un brillante avvio, tanto da installarsi a ridosso del leader Jorge Prado. Nel corso del terzo giro è scivolato, perdendo alcune posizioni. Ripartito al 5° posto, si è prodigato per recuperare il tempo perduto, portandosi ai piedi del podio. La troppa foga, però, lo ha fatto sbagliare di nuovo e ha così concluso 4° al termine di una frazione corsa sempre al massimo, come ha testimoniato il giro più veloce realizzato.
Nella manche conclusiva ha confermato i progressi palesati nella fase di partenza, terminando nella top 5 la tornata d’apertura. Anche in questa circostanza, ha forzato per lunghi tratti della gara, avvicinandosi sensibilmente a Roan Van De Moosdijk nel finale e mancando il podio per un soffio. La 4° piazza conseguita nell’assoluta di giornata è stato comunque un ottimo risultato in ottica campionato. I punti ottenuti, infatti, gli hanno permesso di portarsi a sole 12 lunghezze da Adam Sterry. Nella conclusiva prova del Mondiale, il transalpino potrà quindi giocarsi tutte le carte a sua disposizione, con l’intento di ottenere il 6° posto assoluto.
Il 18° ed ultimo round della stagione si disputerà il prossimo fine settimana, esattamente il 15 settembre, a Shangai (Cina).

At Afyonkarahisar, Maxime Renaux fourth in the MX2 class.
The second to last round of the World Championship confirmed that Maxime Renaux is one of the top riders of the quarter of liter category. The French made a high level performance, and if he did not make a few little mistakes, he could have jumped on the podium for the second time in the season.
The weekend started very well, with a great performance in Qualifying Race. Maxime had a regular pace after a good start from the gate. He quickly moved to the 3rd place and he kept the position until the checkered flag. In Race 1 he had again a brilliant start, as he was very close to the leader, Jorge Prado. At lap 3, though, he slipped and he lost a few positions. He restarted in 5th place and he tried his best to recover the time that he had lost, as he was once again close to the podium places. Too much ardor, though, made him make a mistake again, so he finished the race in 4th place. He was at full power for the whole race, as he made the fastest lap.
In Race 2 he confirmed the progress that he made for the starts, as he was in the Top 5 after lap 1. Again, he forced his pace for a lot of time during the race, and at the end he was very close to Roan Van De Moosdijk, just out of the podium places. His final 4th position in the Overall of the day was, however, an excellent result for the Championship. The points that he gained, in facts, allowed him to reduce the gap from Adam Sterry to only 12 points. At the last round of the World Championship, the French will have the chance to lay it all on the line to try to reach the 6th place in the General Classification.
The 18th and last round of the season will take place at Shangai (China), next weekend, exactly on the 15th of September.
