Il giovane talento norvegese, Cornelius Tøndel, ha iniziato l’anno con la SM Action KTM per disputare il campionato del mondo MX2, ma dopo essersi separato dal team italiano concluderà la stagione passando al campionato del mondo MXGP.

Il team JWR Honda si è recentemente separato da Hardi Roosiorg ed è stato alla ricerca di un pilota sostitutivo nonostante Lars van Berkel sia entrato in gara a Lommel per il team.
Il team ha deciso di ingaggiare un pilota che conosce bene a Tøndel poiché ha corso per il team che ha partecipato alla serie EMX Open nel 2020. Tøndel correrà il resto del campionato del mondo MXGP per il team con cinque round rimanenti, anche se resta da vedere se farà il turno turco.
Tøndel spera in alcuni buoni risultati in modo da poter guadagnare una moto in MXGP a tempo pieno per la stagione 2024.
Cornelius Tøndel: Sono entusiasta di tornare nel campionato del mondo ed è bello lavorare con una squadra con cui ho corso in passato. Ovviamente non ho ancora guidato molto la moto e dovrò impararla correndo, ma farò del mio meglio per dare il massimo. Devo ringraziare la squadra e tutti intorno a me per questa opportunità. Ora non vedo l’ora di tornare a correre!

Young Norwegian talent, Cornelius Tøndel started the year with the SM Action KTM to contest the MX2 World Championship but after parting ways with the Italian based team will end the season making the move up to the MXGP World Championship.
The JWR Honda team recently parted ways with Hardi Roosiorg and have been on the look out for a fill in rider despite Lars van Berkel stepping into race Lommel for the team.
The team have decided to sign up a rider they know well in Tøndel as he raced for the team contesting the EMX Open series back in 2020. Tøndel will race the rest of the MXGP World Championship for the team with five rounds remaining although it remains to be seen if he’ll do the Turkish round.
Tøndel will be hoping for some good results so he can earn a full time MXGP ride for the 2024 season.
Cornelius Tøndel: I’m excited to be back in the world championship and it feels good to work with a team I’ve been racing with in the past. Obviously I didn’t ride the bike much yet and I will have to learn it while racing, but I will do my very best to perform. I have to thank the team and everyone around me for this opportunity. I now can’t wait to be back racing!
Patrik Erlandsson (Marketing Coordinator): This rider makes so much sense for the team! Now we can finish the season with a rider that we know well. He is talented, works hard and gives it his best. He showed very good speed in MX2 so it will be fun to see what he can do on the JWR Honda bike.
