Sul tortuoso impianto di Orlyonok, si è svolta l’ottava prova del Mondiale MX2. I due piloti del team SM Action Yamaha si sono mantenuti su alti livelli nel corso di tutto il weekend, portando a casa la miglior performance stagionale nel Campionato del mondo.

Dopo alcuni episodi poco fortunati avvenuti nel corso delle prove precedenti, Michele Cervellin ha saputo rifarsi in Russia, mettendo in mostra tutte le sue doti ed elargendo una prova convincente sotto tutti gli aspetti. Il pilota veneto è partito con il piede giusto, registrando tempi interessanti fin dalle prime prove libere per poi terminare la heat di qualifica al quinto posto, piazzando così le basi per un risultato importante. Le manche della domenica hanno ribadito il buon feeling del giovane azzurro con la pista russa; nella prima frazione è scattato a ridosso della ‘top 10’ ed è riuscito a progredire di alcune posizioni, concludendo nono. In Gara 2 è uscito con rapidità dai blocchi di partenza, mantenendo per tutta la manche le posizioni di vertice e conquistando un meritato quarto posto. I risultati conseguiti gli hanno permesso di acciuffare il quinto piazzamento assoluto di giornata, nonché di portarsi al decimo posto nella classifica generale.

Maxime Renaux

Maxime Renaux non è stato da meno, insidiandosi nelle posizioni che contano della MX2. Il francese ha iniziato bene il fine settimana, facendo segnare il sesto tempo nel corso delle prove libere. Nella manche di qualifica, però, non è stato in grado di riproporsi ad alti livelli e ha concluso nelle retrovie. La frazione d’apertura della domenica lo ha visto riscattarsi prontamente, agguantando la settima piazza a pochi secondi dalla ‘top 5’. Nella seconda frazione ha ripetuto il buono spunto al via, aggiudicandosi il nono posto al termine di una manche regolare. Medesimo piazzamento colto nell’assoluta di giornata, che gli ha permesso di progredire anche in campionato. Nella classifica generale, infatti, il pilota transalpino ha guadagnato due posizioni ed ora si trova al 13esimo posto.

Il Campionato del mondo non conosce soste e proseguirà nel prossimo fine settimana sul rinomato tracciato di Kegums, in Lettonia, dove andrà in scena la nona tappa del Mondiale.

AT THE INSIDIOUS CIRCUIT OF ORLYONOK, SHINY PERFORMANCES FOR CERVELLIN AND RENAUX, AS BOTH FINISHED IN THE TOP 10

The eighth round of the MX2 World Championship took place at the winding circuit of Orlyonok. Both Team SM Action riders kept themselves on high level throughout the whole weekend and they achieved their best result of the current season.

Michele Cervellin

After a few unlucky moments that occurred in the past rounds, Michele Cervellin redeemed himself in Russia, as he showed off all his skills and he made a convincing all-around performance. The rider from Veneto started the weekend in the right way: he made fast laps since Free Practice and he finished Qualifying Race in 5th place, putting the base for an important result. Sunday’s races confirmed the good feelings that he had with the track: in Race 1 he started around the Top Ten and he gained a few places during the race, finishing 9th. In Race 2 he was fast out of the starting gate and he kept himself in the top places, finishing in a well-deserved 4th place. Those placements allowed him to finish in 5th place in the daily Overall Classification and to enter in the Top Ten of the General Classification of the Championship.

Maxime Renaux

Maxime Renaux performance was not far behind, as he finished in the top placements of the MX2 too. The French started the weekend very well, as he made the 6th fastest lap time in Free Practice. In Qualifying Race, though, he was not as fast as before and he finished in the back. He redeemed in Race 1, as he gained the 7th position with only a few seconds of gap from the Top 5. In Race 2 he started once again very well and he finished in 9th place with no issues. He gained the same placement in the daily Overall and he moved up in the General Classification too. In fact, the French rider made up two places and he is now in 13th position in the Championship.

MX2 World Championship does not stop in the summer, so next weekend the appointment will be in Latvia, at the famous circuit of Kegums, where the 9th round of the Championship will take place.
