Il sesto appuntamento con il Mondiale MXGP 2022 si è corso sulla pista di Kegums in Lettonia. Il team Beta SDM Corse in pista con Jeremy Van Horebeek.

Il team Beta SDM Corse si è presentato a questo round con Jeremy Van Horebeek in ottima forma, dopo le brillanti prestazioni nelle ultime gare, mentre Alessandro Lupino è ancora convalescente, a causa dell’intervento subito nelle scorse settimane.
Il pilota belga ha trovato immediatamente un ottimo feeling con la pista sabbiosa di Kegums, e nelle prove cronometrate ha ottenuto un eccezionale quarto tempo assoluto, sua miglior prestazione di questa prima parte di stagione.
Nella manche di qualifica, dopo una partenza non facile, Jeremy stava recuperando molte posizioni ma, all’atterraggio del salto di fronte all’arrivo ha impattato contro le barriere, fortunatamente senza conseguenze. Jeremy ha perso però molto tempo, riuscendo a concludere in 12° posizione.
In Gara 1, Van Horebeek ha messo in scena una partenza accorta, ed è riuscito a prendere un buon ritmo, che gli ha permesso di rimontare alcune posizioni e di concludere al nono posto.
In partenza di Gara 2, Jeremy è rimasto chiuso a centro gruppo alla prima curva, perdendo alcune posizioni, ma con un ottimo passo gara ha recuperato fino alla nona posizione quando, nella chicane che immetteva sul rettilineo di partenza, ha sfortunatamente urtato una balla di paglia che è rimasta incastrata nella sua ruota posteriore. Van Horebeek è stato quindi costretto ad un passaggio dai box, compromettendo il risultato della gara.
Prossimo appuntamento il 7-8 Maggio a Maggiora, gara di casa per il Team Beta SDM Corse.
Daniele Marchese commenta così la gara: “Un fine settimana travagliato per Jeremy, avevamo molte novità da provare e i ragazzi del team hanno lavorato molto, le prove cronometrate hanno fatto vedere un buon miglioramento e infatti abbiamo segnato un eccellente quarto tempo. Peccato per gli inconvenienti subiti da Jeremy. Siamo comunque molto soddisfatti per le novità che abbiamo portato in gara, non vediamo l’ora di scendere in pista a Maggiora.”

The sixth round of the 2022 MXGP World Championship took place on the Kegums track, in Latvia.
Beta SDM Corse team came to this round with Jeremy Van Horebeek in good shape, after the brilliant performances in the last races, while Alessandro Lupino is still recovering, due to the surgery undergone in recent weeks.
The Belgian rider immediately found a good feeling with the sandy track of Kegums, and in qualifying he obtained an exceptional fourth time overall, his best performance in this first part of the season.
In the Qualifying Race, after a not easy start, Jeremy was recovering many positions but, when landing the jump in front of the finish line, he hit the barriers, fortunately without consequences. However, Jeremy lost a lot of time and managed to finish in 12th position.
In Race 1, Van Horebeek staged a careful start, and managed to get into a good rhythm, which allowed him to recover some positions and finish in ninth place.
At the start of Race 2, Jeremy was closed to the middle of the group at turn one, losing some positions, but with a good race pace he recovered up to ninth position when, in the chicane that entered the start straight, he unfortunately hit a bale of straw that got stuck in his rear wheel. Van Horebeek was then forced to make a pit stop, compromising the outcome of the race.
Next appointment on 7-8 May in Maggiora, home race for Beta Team SDM Corse.
Daniele Marchese comments on the race: “It was a troubled weekend for Jeremy, we had a lot of new things to try and the guys in the team worked hard, the time trials showed a good improvement and in fact we scored an excellent fourth time. It’s a shame about the problems Jeremy had. However, we are very satisfied with the innovations we brought to the race, we can’t wait to get on track in Maggiora”.
