Sul tracciato di Ottobiano, reso molto difficile dalla pioggia e dalla neve caduta nei giorni scorsi, il Team SM Action Yamaha conquista il primo podio dell’anno con Maxime Renaux.
Già nelle prove cronometrate si è visto che il francese era a suo agio nei profondi canali della pista. Con il tempo di 1:54.489 ha messo dietro tutti quanti e al via della manche è sempre stato nelle prime tre posizioni. Addirittura per cinque giri ha occupato la seconda piazza ma un doppiato l’ha un po’ ostacolato e Vlaanderen lo ha ripassato a due giri dalla bandiera a scacchi. Ad una prova dal termine Maxime è quinto assoluto a soli 13 punti dal podio.
Positiva la gara anche di Michele Cervellin. Nella manche della MX2, Michele è quinto al primo passaggio dietro a Ben Watson. I due si danno battaglia e proprio all’ultimo giro passa l’inglese proprio nella curva in discesa che precede il traguardo. A Mantova, dove si correrà l’ultima prova, il pilota delle Fiamme Oro proverà a mantenere il terzo gradino del podio e magari recuperare i 25 punti che lo separano da Mikkel Haarup che occupa la seconda posizione.
Gare difficili per Michael Mantovani e Andrea Adamo. Mantovani non parte male nella manche della MX2 ma fa un errore al terzo passaggio e scivola nelle ultime posizioni. Chiude 30esimo e non si qualifica per la gara finale. A differenza di Riola Sardo, questa volta Andrea Adamo non si trova a suo agio con il fondo della pista. 25esimo al primo passaggio, Adamo rimonta fino al 20esimo posto ma proprio all’ultimo giro Larranaga lo sorpassa e lo esclude dalla Supercampione.

Nella gara che chiude la giornata, Michele Cervellin e Maxime Renaux viaggiano praticamente appaiati per alcuni giri con Renaux settimo e Cervellin ottavo. A quattro giri dal termine, Cervellin rompe gli indugi e si prende la settima piazza che manterrà fino alla bandiera a scacchi.
MICHELE CERVELLIN #747: “Nono stante una pista impegnativo e molto segnata, è stato un bel fine settimana. Nella prima manche ho fatto una buona partenza ed anche se era difficile sorpassare ho chiuso quarto. Nella Supercampione mi sono preso un bel settimo posto finale. Considerato che correvamo con i 450, lo ritengo un buon piazzamento. Stiamo lavorando molto con il Team per trovare il giusto set up alla moto. Ora spero di allenarmi bene per la gara di Mantova dove sono in lotta per podio”.

MAXIME RENAUX #959: “Sono contento della gara di oggi perchè ho fatto la Pole Position nella MX2 e sono salito sul podio nella manche di categoria. Sono partito nei primi cinque passando poi al secondo posto che ho mantenuto per cinque giri. Purtroppo ho fatto un errore finendo in un canale e Vlaanderen mi ha ripassato. Nella Supercampione ho chiuso ottavo e mi ritengo molto soddisfatto di come sto andando”.

MICHAEL MANTOVANI #722: “Tutto sommato oggi è andata bene. Nelle cronometrate sono riuscito a fare un buon giro finendo 12esimo nel mio gruppo. Nonostante una posizione larga, nella gara della MX2 ho fatto una buona partenza. Ero nei venti ma al terzo passaggio sono scivolato perdendo diverse posizioni. Ho faticato a risalire e non sono riuscito a qualificarmi. Per me queste due prime gare sono state le più ostiche, domenica saremo a Mantova dove spero di avere un buon ritmo e centrare la qualifica nella Supercampione”.

At Ottobiano good podium in MX2 for Maxime Renaux
At Ottobiano, Team SM Action Yamaha gained the first podium of the year with Maxime Renaux. The conditions were tough, due to the rain and the snow that dropped in the past days.
Since Timed Practice already, we could see that the French felt comfortable with the deep ruts of the track. He signed the fastest lap with the time of 1:54.489 and he started the race in the first three places. For five laps he was second, but a lapped rider got into the way and Vlaanderen overtook him with only two laps to go. When there is only one round till the end of the Championship, Maxime is 5th in the General Standing with only 13 points of gap from the podium.
Positive race for Michele Cervellin too. In MX2 race, Michele was 5th after the first lap, just behind Ben Watson. Both battled for the whole race, and during the last lap the English passed him at the downhill corner just before the finish line. At Mantua, where the last round of the Championship will take place, the “Fiamme Oro” rider will try to keep the third place of the podium, and maybe he will also try to catch up those 25 points of gap from Mikkel Haarup, who is currently in second place.
Hard races for Michael Mantovani and Andrea Adamo. Mantovani started well in MX2 race, but at the third lap he made a mistake and he moved to the back of the group. He finished 30th and he did not qualify for the “Supercampione”. Unlike the weekend at Riola Sardo, Andrea Adamo this time did not feel good with the track surface. He was 25th after the first lap, he managed to move up to the 20th but during the last lap Larranaga overtook him and excluded him from the “Supercampione” race.
MICHELE CERVELLIN #747: “Despite of the challenging track, it was a good weekend. In the first race I made a good start and even though it was hard to overtake, I managed to finish 4th. In the “Supercampione” race I finished in 7th place. Considering that we were riding the 450cc bikes, I feel like I gained a good placement. We are working hard with the Team to find the right set up for the bike. I hope I will do some good training before Mantua’s weekend, as I’m still battling for the podium”.
MAXIME RENAUX #959: “I’m happy for today’s race, as I made the Pole Position in MX2 and I finished the race on the podium in my category. I started in the Top 5, I managed to gain the 2nd position and I kept it for 5 laps. Unluckily I made a mistake in a rut, and Vlaanderen overtook me. In the “Supercampione” I finished 8th and I’m really satisfied for how things are going for me”.
MICHAEL MANTOVANI #722: “After all, today it was good. In Timed Practice I managed to make a good lap time and I finished 12th in my group. Despite of the wide starting place, I had a good start. I was in the Top 20 but at lap 3 I slipped and I lost a lot of places. I struggled to move up again and I wasn’t able to qualify for the “Supercampione”. For me the first two rounds were the hardest ones, but on Sunday we will be in Mantua, and I hope I will have a good pace to try qualifying for the “Supercampione”.
